How much can cabinet paint REALLY change a kitchen?

In this case…a lot.

These homeowners wanted one thing: to make their kitchen feel brighter.

The existing cabinets were still in great shape, so there was no reason to replace them. No new doors. No new cabinet boxes. No major changes from us.

We simply painted the existing cabinetry—and their new hood—in SW City Loft.

The homeowners made some beautiful updates of their own, including new countertops and additional windows around the hood, but when it came to the cabinetry, this transformation was all about paint.

Same cabinets. Completely different feel.

Can you completely transform a kitchen without replacing all the cabinets?

The original kitchen had beautiful bones, but the dark stained cabinetry made the space feel much heavier. So instead of starting over, we focused on the changed that would make the biggest impact.

We painted the existing kitchen and butler’s pantry in SW Oyster Bay—a color that completely changed the personality of the space.

We removed the existing smaller island and replaced it with a new custom island, then added decorative end panels throughout the kitchen to match the existing door style and give the cabinetry a more finished, furniture-like look.

And then came the details. This is where her vision really came together. New countertops and backsplash, a gorgeous tile inlay on the existing hood detail, and hardware that brought another layer of elegance to the entire space ✨

Not a completely different kitchen. Just a REALLY GOOD example of what happens when all the right choices come together.

It certainly doesn’t look like the same kitchen anymore 👀

For this kitchen, we kept the existing lower cabinet boxes and gave them new doors, allowing our client to keep the countertops she already loved.

But the uppers? Those had to go.
The original 30” upper cabinets were replaced with massive 47” cabinets, taking advantage of all that unused vertical space and giving the kitchen more storage, better proportions, and a completely different presence.

Same countertops. Same footprint.
VERY DIFFERENT KITCHEN.
