Happy National Intern Day!

Today, we're celebrating Maggie Overton and the enthusiasm, curiosity, and dedication she brought to Davis Kane throughout her summer internship.

We were proud to provide Maggie with a well-rounded experience that exposed her to projects at every stage, from early concepts to those nearing completion. Along the way, she worked on a variety of project types, explored different aspects of architectural practice, and gained firsthand insight into how thoughtful design can make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.

Beyond project work, Maggie experienced the collaboration behind every successful design. She spent time both in the office and in the field, working alongside team members who shared their knowledge, encouraged questions, and demonstrated the value of collaboration throughout the design process.

We're grateful to have had Maggie as part of the Davis Kane team this summer and wish her continued success as she returns to NC State University this fall. We look forward to seeing where her passion for architecture takes her next.

Celebrating Milestones from the Piedmont to the Coast. 🎉

Davis Kane Architects recently joined our clients, project partners, and community members to celebrate three exciting project milestones:

✂️ The ribbon cutting and grand reopening of the newly renovated Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library in Clayton. The transformation creates a more open, welcoming, and flexible environment where visitors can read, learn, gather, and connect.

✂️ The grand opening of the renovated Siler City Center for Active Living. The renovation introduced a new welcome center, expanded programming space, modern staff offices, updated flooring, and adaptable areas designed to support activities, classes, and community events.

🚒 The groundbreaking for the new Bear Creek Fire Station in Onslow County. The 14,440 SF facility will include five apparatus bays, firefighter living spaces, training areas, decontamination facilities, backup power, and enhanced storm resilience to support dependable emergency response.

We are grateful for the opportunity to help bring these meaningful community investments to life and thankful to our clients, partners, and project teams whose collaboration and trust make each milestone possible.

We're proud to spotlight one of our latest public safety projects: the Town of Knightdale Law Enforcement Center.

Construction is well underway, and we’re excited to share a glimpse of the progress through drone footage and project renderings that bring the vision to life.

Designed primarily to support the evolving needs of the Knightdale Police Department, the new facility will provide secure, efficient spaces for daily law enforcement operations while also housing the Town’s Fire Department Administration offices. Together, these spaces will strengthen coordination among public safety personnel and create a welcoming civic presence for staff and the community.

The design prioritizes functionality, resilience, staff wellness, security, and long-term flexibility to serve the Town for years to come.

Davis Kane is proud to partner with the Town of Knightdale and the entire project team on this important investment in public safety. We look forward to sharing more updates as construction continues to take shape.

Jimmy Edwards and Coury Stolarik spent time in Phoenix for the 2026 Inter-City Visit & Leadership Conference.
They had the chance to explore the city, visit a range of projects, and connect with others from across the region.
Much of the conversation centered around growth and how cities are responding to it. Seeing places like the Arizona Science Center and the Heard Museum made it clear how much thoughtful planning shapes the experience of a place.
They came back with new ideas and a better sense of how that kind of growth is being handled in other parts of the country.
