Yesterday we celebrated a major milestone at the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Reedy Creek Laboratory Campus with the ribbon cutting of their new Raleigh Regional Office! Serving as the campus’s new front door, the facility brings staff together and provides public-facing spaces for education, training, meetings, and permit review.

Alongside renovations to three existing buildings, the project increases meeting capacity by 275% and laboratory bench space by 35%, while adding 36,000 SF of building area. Sustainability was a key design priority, and the project is on track to achieve Green Globes certification.

We’re proud to celebrate this milestone alongside NC Dept of Environmental Quality, our incredible team of consultants, and our construction partner, whose collaboration brought this vision to life.

Our history with the NC State Fairgrounds is an embodiment of this year’s theme: “A Memory Worth Making. A Story Worth Telling.”

Our story began in 2005, when we designed the Governor James G. Martin Building in the heart of the Fairgrounds. As is well known in our industry, you often start your career designing functional spaces—restrooms included. And, that’s exactly how our story with the Fairgrounds began. Designed for flexibility, the Martin Building features a multipurpose room and restrooms for fairgoers, while its porch offers a place to gather or escape the crowds during fair time.

More than 20 years later, that first project has grown into a lasting relationship with the Fairgrounds. Now, the Midway Event Center is ready to take the stage—a vibrant, year-round destination designed for dining, events, and gathering.

We’re proud that our story with the Fairgrounds is still being written, creating spaces where memories are made.

Randolph County’s Agricultural Center, located in Asheboro, is a multi-faceted campus that celebrates the county’s agricultural roots while supporting its future. The campus brings together spaces for agriculture, education, events, and community resources.

The Resource and Education Center houses NC Cooperative Extension and county soil and water offices, along with meeting and classroom spaces, and an incubator commercial kitchen where small food businesses can access certified preparation space. A food hub also connects local farmers with consumers through pre-ordering and pickup services.

The campus includes an Event Center and Arena, providing space for livestock auctions and a variety of community events, as well as a greenhouse supporting agricultural education and programming.

Together, these spaces create a dynamic campus where people and organizations can connect, strengthen local economies, enhance resiliency, and build community.

Wow! What an amazing year our CEO and Founder Kristen M. Hess had serving as the Chair of the Raleigh Chamber. At the 138th Raleigh Chamber Annual Meeting, Kristen shared that it was a year of engagement, of connection, and of inspiration. “I knew there would be issues I needed to learn more about, people I needed to meet, and perspectives I needed to hear. What mattered was showing up, listening, asking thoughtful questions, and making sure people knew how much I cared about this Chamber, our members, the people we serve, and our great City of Raleigh.”

Check out the video as Kristen is In the Driver’s Seat for the last time before passing the keys to Mitch Perry of Blue Cross NC who will serve as chair over the next year. Congratulations Kristen, best of luck to Mitch, and thank you to our Raleigh Chamber for all the work you do to make Raleigh so great!

This past weekend, three members of our team, Eric, Dave, and Jenessa, participated in Bike MS.

Together, they raised $1,001.52 to support the MS community. Eric completed an impressive 100-mile ride, his fastest ride yet. Dave took on his first organized road ride, and Jenessa also put in a strong performance on the course.

We’re proud of Eric, Dave, and Jenessa for dedicating their time, energy, and miles to a meaningful cause. Their participation is a great example of our team’s commitment to getting involved, supporting our community, and giving back.

Congratulations, Eric, Dave, and Jenessa 👏

Our team recently gathered for an internal knowledge-sharing session focused on strengthening the processes and tools that support successful project delivery. The discussion included field reporting best practices, project scheduling strategies, rendering workflows, and owner visioning sessions,

By sharing expertise and learning from one another’s experiences, we continue to refine our approach, improve coordination, and identify more efficient ways to deliver projects. This ongoing exchange of knowledge helps us bring fresh perspectives, stronger communication, and better-informed solutions to every project we undertake.

A new chapter begins for the City of Raleigh's Sertoma Arts Center! 🎉

Our team was thrilled to be there today to celebrate the groundbreaking of this long-awaited expansion and renovation. This is an exciting milestone for a facility that plays such an important role in Raleigh’s arts community.

This project will create new gallery and ceramics studio spaces, a welcoming lobby, improved restrooms and locker areas, and enhanced accessibility—creating more opportunities for the community to learn, create, gather, and experience the arts.

We are proud to partner with the Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department and Raleigh Arts to help shape the next chapter of Sertoma Arts Center and can’t wait to see this beloved community resource come to life!

Progress is taking shape at the NC DEQ Reedy Creek Laboratory Campus! Phase 2 of this complex, occupied renovation is well underway, and it's exciting to see the transformation happening across campus. Several new spaces are coming together, including the new 35,000-square-foot office facility, as the project continues to reach key construction milestones.

Delivering a phased renovation within an active laboratory campus requires careful coordination, clear communication, and constant collaboration. We are proud of our team and this continuing collaborative effort!
