🌳 MEET OUR LEAD CLIMBER — CHRISTIAN MATHEWS 🌳

Some jobs require strength. Some require skill. And some require the ability to stay calm, trust what you know, and keep climbing. As Southern Cutts Tree Service’s Lead Climber, Christian Mathews brings all of that to the crew.

Christian knows his craft. He is quick and efficient in the tree while never losing sight of what matters most—doing the job safely and doing it right. When you're working at height, there isn't much room for hesitation or carelessness, and Christian brings a steady, focused approach to every climb.

But being a great climber is about more than what happens in the canopy. Christian communicates well with his boss, works alongside the rest of the crew instead of simply working around them, and understands that every person on the ground and in the tree has a role in getting the job done safely and efficiently.

Christian is also what we would call an overcomer.
His story is a reminder that recovery, rebuilding, and renewal are very real for those who are resolute in choosing to grow and build again. Christian has taken that determination and poured it into his life, his family, and his craft—and we're proud to see the man, husband, father, and climber he continues to become.

There is something fitting about a man who understands rebuilding being the one who climbs for a living.
Every tree presents something different. Every climb requires focus. Sometimes the way up isn't simple, and sometimes the work is hard—but Christian has a way of staying calm, putting his head down, and conquering the climb in front of him. Every time.

When the workday is over, Christian's greatest adventures are with his wife and their boys. Whether they're exploring somewhere new, getting outside, or simply spending time together, they make a point to adventure, enjoy life, and build memories as a family.

At Southern Cutts, we value Christian for his skill in the tree, but we also value the qualities he brings to the crew every day—
A strong crew needs people who know how to climb. A great crew needs people who know how to overcome. We're thankful Christian knows how to do both.

We would like to give a heartfelt shout out to the locals of Crestview, FL. When some local families found out there was a biblical “no room in the inn” situation for many emergency responders, these families took “love your neighbor as yourself” to heart and have provided a complete house to our crew as well as snacks and provisions, and then they topped it all off with a hot meal that had been cooked over grills and cooktops outside. There is power at the house they are putting the crew up in, but the very neighbors that fed these guys are still patiently waiting on theirs to be restored. The hospitality and genuine care in making sure none of these 10 slept in a field in a cold truck another night. Thank you!!!

Boots were on the ground early, as the crew got out serving Crestview & Baker, FL communities as clean-up processes get underway. The clock runs long, and won’t end until 9pm, but these guys make the best of it.

Just some quick snaps of one of the crews during the day today thanks to Miss Joshalyn Lovitt who accompanied her fiancée down and is doing some documenting and picture/video capturing for us.

So much is in chaos directly after a storm, but thankfully responders like ours and so many others know how to remain calm and are experts at arriving on scene to an area with damage and immediately and efficiently identify the best way to clear the hazards, getting the trees out of the way as well as other hazards. We know these guys are doing a great job! They earned that hot meal when the day was done.

🌳 MEET OUR ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR — KINSEY CRABTREE 🌳

Every good crew has someone behind the scenes keeping all the moving pieces from moving in different directions. For Southern Cutts Tree Service, that person is Kinsey Crabtree.

As Southern Cutts’ Administrative Coordinator Kinsey plays a vital role in keeping the day-to-day business organized, on track, and moving forward. While the crews may be the ones you see out in the field, there is an incredible amount of work happening behind the scenes to make sure they have what they need to get there—and Kinsey has her hands in just about all of it. From keeping the company’s bookwork organized and accounts payable and receivable on track to managing a constantly changing calendar, Kinsey helps make sure the business side of Southern Cutts keeps flowing.

And in the tree business, there are a LOT of moving parts to keep up with. Equipment. Trucks. Parts orders. Materials/Tools in stock. Scheduling. Paperwork. Invoices. Communication. Kinsey keeps a running tally of the details that can easily get lost in the shuffle of a busy workweek and helps make sure the right information gets to the right people when they need it.

She also serves as an important line of communication between the boss, management, sales, and the crew in the field. When schedules change, equipment needs attention, materials need ordering, paperwork needs handling, or somebody simply needs to know what in the world is going on—there's a pretty good chance Kinsey is somewhere in the middle helping connect the dots.

But what makes Kinsey so valuable isn't only how much she keeps organized. It's the heart she brings with her. Kinsey is kind, fiercely loyal, dependable, and the type of person who gives her all to the people and responsibilities she cares about. Whether it's her work, her family, or a friend who needs her, she shows up.

Outside of Southern Cutts, Kinsey enjoys doing life with her partner Andrew along with her three pups and a kitty keeping them company. Family is incredibly important to Kinsey. She loyally helps care for her mama, and if you're one of her people, you know she's the kind of person you can call when you need someone.

That same loyalty and heart carry straight into the work she does for Southern Cutts. A company can have the equipment, the trucks, the jobs, and the people—but somebody has to help hold all those pieces together. We're so thankful Kinsey is one of the people helping hold ours together. ❤️🌳
