Termite Swarming Season: Does Your Tree Have Defects That Can Cause an Infestation?
Spring in Southeast Louisiana brings termite swarming season, when colonies send out winged termites looking for new places to nest. Damaged or decaying trees can attract termites because they provide easy access to moist wood.
Look for warning signs such as:
Cavities or hollow trunks
Mushrooms or fungal growth at the base
Dead limbs and decaying wood
Cracks in the trunk or major branches
