Little saturday inspection report clean up, missing jbox cover, secure this conduit and boxes better, and no cover plate on the switch.
First 2 simple, the switch, we had to trim out the trim, get a box extender installed so the wires werent sitting against the wood, and replace the switch because i dont have a cover plate that would fit the old switch.
I even got a small pc of wood trim to fit between the door and window, right at the top of the cover plate! Not perfect by any means but it doesnt leave an open gap between the cover and plaster!

Emergency call, half a tree took out the power lines!
Ameren was already on site installing new service wire (the old one is pinned under the tree). We quickly determined there was no visible damage to the house drop, meter base, or interior panel.

Last week we had a call for a tripped breaker. Common enough call, we went out and isolated the problem to a wire between 2 switches in the kitchen. We tried to identify where the short was but with limited accessibility in the ceiling, we had to make due with another work around. We came back today and re-fed the single switch in the kitchen for all the task lights, by drilling up into the wall cavity in the basement above the drop ceiling. We then ran a new 12/2 homerun to the panel, and tied it back into the original breaker. Still dont know what happened 100% to the original wire. No great pictures of before/after. But the lights are working again!

2 set of track lights above the mantle, 16 ft cathedral ceilings, used my laser level to line everything up, super little tool. Then the chandelier just had to be hung, but swapped out the switch. There used to be a ceiling fan here, and it was on a speed control switch, which wont work as a dimmer for lights. Had a lutron diva led+ on the van, everything turned out great!
Also turns out that the customer is the dad of someone i went to school with, it was glad to hear an update!

Added a new service to this house, the original was off a 50 amp breaker, over 100 ft away, went under a mobile home and a parking lot, ran thru flexible plumbing pipe, and terminated in a 60 amp fuse panel mounted to the basement ceiling! The building had lost a leg last week and instead of trying to dig everything up and find the break , we decided to go overhead would be the cheaper and easier route. Whew. Ameren has to come out yet and install a new pole to get overhead wires to the new location, and we will be back to put in a new 100 panel in the basement. More to come!

First stop, customer wanted an outlet up high for a tv on his back porch. They already had a setup for a flood light, so we were able to take that LB down, add a box. Run new pvc around, up high, then onto the brick where the tv will be mounted. Came off the load side of the GFCI and put in a WR outlets with in use cover. Not pictured, replaced a broken pvc fitting on the far side of the patio.
After lunch we went and replaced a bathfan, no pictures. It came out ok, the new fan was slightly smaller so we had to shim out the sides. We got it to look ok, and added some venting in the attic.

First call today customer has a dryer outlet that had got too hot. They said they had used it once for an electric car charger and hadn't been right since. Should not do that, a dryer will constantly cycle on and off to maintain temperature, but a car charger constantly draws power to get the battery charged. And those Outlets are not made for a constant draw. The EV charger heated up the back of the outlet which caused the loose connection and then as you're using the dryer that loose connection causes increased power to be used increased heat to be generated. We got the outlet replaced I also replaced the cord while I was there, and reset a trip to GFCI on the outside of the house because she didn't realize that's all it needed.
Our next stop is out Highway 104 past liberty. Call came in yesterday that it doesn't seem like there's full power at the outlets he said if that made sense. Which it does. Typically there's a bad connection somewhere. Do a little investigating they've got two meters and two panels that off of the outside meter Main. Wiring is pretty corroded pretty damaged. And whoever was in there neglected to tie in the neutral wires from the meter breakers, to the inside panel. Because all of our neutrals are bare in this trough they were getting just a little bit of connection through the metal trough. Something happened to disturb that connection and so they started seeing fluctuating voltages inside the house 102 on one leg and 133 volts on the other in both panels. There was just enough good wire for me to connect everything with a couple split bolts. They will be getting an estimate upgrade from me, this one needs to be replaced.
