We had someone ask... "why are trying to find the PVC in the yard? Why does that matter?" ....

Before the finishing touches go in, we make sure the foundation of the landscape is right, including how water moves across the property.

Proper grading directs water away from your home instead of toward it, helping reduce standing water, erosion, oversaturated soil, and unwanted moisture around the foundation.

It may not be the most noticeable part of a finished landscape, but it’s one of the most important.
We pay attention to the details underneath the finished product so your outdoor space looks great, functions properly, and performs for years to come.

⚒️Bringing dirt to the jobsite:
We often do have to haul in a decent amount of dirt to projects. We run into landscape beds that slope toward the foundation of the home. We bring soil to get the beds sloped away and bring them up to the proper grade that they should have been to begin with.

⚒️Bringing dirt away from the jobsite:
Typically we do not haul much soil away on our landscape projects. Most of our spoils are shrubs, rock, and fabric from the landscaping.
However, Our hardscape projects we do excavate quite a bit. If it is decent soil that can be re used we will occasionally stockpile it. This doesn’t happen often, due to the fact that usually extensive excavation means the there was poor subsoils where we are going to install a wall or landscaping. Truthfully, we try and keep/reuse as much of it on site as we can or as the project allows. The less hauling we have to do, the better.

Why do you use spray paint on site?!?!

On hardscape and landscape projects, spray paint is usually used as a temporary marking tool before any digging or installation begins. It helps crews visualize the layout and avoid costly mistakes.

‼For us it helps with:
1- Layout and design: Marking where patios, walkways, retaining walls, fire pits, garden beds, or edging will go so everyone is working from the same plan.

2- Excavation limits: Showing exactly where to dig and where excavation should stop.

3- Utility markings: Identifying underground utilities before digging.
*IMPORTANT NOTE*- Always use WHITE or PINK paint for your excavation markings. Using colors that the utility companies use can cause a lot of confusion 😬
Blue=water
Green=sewer
Gas=yellow
Red=electric
Orange=fiber

4- Elevation or grading reference: Indicating where slopes, drainage swales, or grade changes will be created.

5- Plant placement: Marking the locations of trees, shrubs, landscape lighting, or irrigation heads before installation.

6- Material transitions: Showing where mulch changes to rock, where sod begins, or where different paver patterns meet.

It's actually a good sign when you see a lot of paint... it usually means the crew is taking time to plan accurately rather than guessing once excavation starts.
