What started as a simple one-time cleanup quickly evolved into one of our most rewarding landscape transformations to date.
The project began with clearing years of overgrowth, dead grass, and outdated plant material so we could truly assess the property's potential. What was once a difficult-to-maintain hillside became the foundation for a complete outdoor living experience. After seeing the possibilities, the homeowners gave us free rein to design and build a space that would maximize both functionality and beauty.
Over the past 9 months, this property has undergone an INCREDIBLE transformation. We installed a new irrigation system to support long-term plant health and sustainability. More than 6,000 square feet of premium turf was added to create clean, usable green space and significantly reduce ongoing maintenance.
To improve accessibility and define the landscape, Belgard - Pacific Northwest Catalina Grana in Rio paver pathways and charcoal borders were installed throughout the property, connecting each area while adding structure and visual appeal. A custom-built seating area featuring a handcrafted bench was positioned to take advantage of the stunning views overlooking Tacoma, creating the perfect place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Water became a major focal point of the design. The existing water feature was restored and enhanced, while a new three-tier basalt column rock bubbler was added to introduce movement, sound, and natural character to the landscape. Extensive LED landscape lighting was carefully placed throughout the property to accent key features, illuminate pathways, and create a completely different atmosphere after sunset.
The landscape is still evolving, with full planting installations currently underway to complete the vision. Projects of this scale require a tremendous amount of planning, communication, and trust from homeowners, and we're grateful to have been part of the journey from the very beginning.
What started as a cleanup became a complete reimagining of the property—combining craftsmanship, functionality, and thoughtful design to create a landscape that will be enjoyed for years to come.
