Most neighbors only notice a streetlight when it is out.

At a Leesburg townhome community, 40 new light poles went in over three phases, planned around buried power and water lines, timed around the neighborhood's school bus stop, and finished with fresh topsoil and seed so the yards looked finished, not worked on. Where old poles sat near buried utilities, our hydro-vac (Five Star Septic) and landscaping (Native Roots) partners worked alongside our crew to dig and finish the job safely.

Our team is OSHA-certified, and that shows up in choices like these, timing the work around kids at the bus stop and choosing the safest way to dig near utilities, not just in a certificate on the wall.

One thing worth knowing before you ever need it: what to do if someone is in contact with a live electrical source.

▪ Do not touch them.
▪ Cut the power at the breaker, or unplug the device, only if you can do it safely.
▪ Call 911.

Simple steps, and knowing them ahead of time is what makes the first minute count. That kind of readiness is part of why our crews are First-Aid certified.

On Saturday, October 17, Patrick Henry College in Purcellville fills up with runners, walkers, and families for Tree of Life Ministries' Race with a Cause 5K, and every registration supports their Shelter program.

Here is what you need to know:
▪ Packet pickup at 7:00 a.m., race starts at 8:00 a.m.
▪ Registration is $35 for adults, $20 for youth 13 and under, on RunSignUp.
▪ Proceeds fund transitional housing and mentoring for Loudoun families, what Tree of Life calls a hand up.

We are proud to serve as title sponsor again this year, and our team will be out there volunteering on race day.

The first chilly evening of fall has a way of bringing out the space heaters.

Before you plug yours in, here is a calm and practical refresher. Plug straight into a wall outlet, not a power strip. Give the heater at least three feet of clear space on all sides. Keep it on a flat, stable floor surface. And turn it off when you leave the room or go to sleep.

These are simple habits, and they are the right ones for keeping a space heater useful all season without the worry.

Fall is officially here in Northern Virginia, and we will say it plainly: this is the best season around here.

Some of the best work our team gets to do never shows up on an invoice.

Each fall, Unity Power Services proudly serves as the title sponsor of Tree of Life’s Race with a Cause 5K at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville. Our team helps bring the family-friendly event to life by working the water station, marshaling the course, and cheering runners toward the finish line.

Every dollar raised supports Tree of Life’s Shelter Branch, which provides transitional housing, mentoring, and other vital assistance to families and individuals throughout Loudoun, Fauquier, and Clarke counties. Their focus is on providing a hand up—not simply a handout.

We’ve logged more than 200 community-service hours this year, and this is one of the days we look forward to most. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside an organization doing meaningful work in our community all year long.
