💧 Grain Bin Foundation Sealing & Waterproofing

This one was a little different from our typical insulation projects.

Water intrusion around the base of this grain bin required more than simply adding spray foam, so we built a multi-step system designed to seal and protect the entire metal-to-concrete transition.

We excavated approximately 2 feet around the perimeter of the bin to expose the foundation, removed the existing material, pressure washed, degreased and thoroughly prepped the surfaces.

From there, we installed a 4-stage sealing and protection system:

1️⃣ Sealant — Sealed the concrete joints and transition areas to address potential water-entry points.

2️⃣ Elastomeric waterproofing — Applied over the critical seams and transitions to create a flexible secondary water barrier.

3️⃣ Closed-cell spray foam — Applied continuously around the perimeter to insulate, air seal and provide another layer of protection across the foundation transition.

4️⃣ Protective exterior coating system — The exposed foam was primed and coated with an exterior protective finish to protect it from weather and UV exposure.

The result is a continuous system extending around the entire grain bin rather than relying on a single material to do everything.

Another project completed by EZ Foam Insulation .

We were recently got the opportunity to work with Apex Performance Gym here in Lamar, Colorado, about protecting the exterior finish of their building. They wanted to preserve the existing paint, help prevent fading, and add an extra layer of protection against the elements.

Another local project completed!

EZ Foam Insulation would like to give a big shoutout to Wiley Processing LLC for trusting us with their new cold storage expansion right here in Wiley, Colorado.

We were proud to help improve the efficiency and performance of their new refrigerated space by installing closed-cell spray foam throughout the facility.

At the entryway, we applied 4 inches of closed-cell foam throughout the walls and ceiling area to help create a controlled environment. Inside the cold storage area, we installed 4 inches on the side walls, 6 inches on the front and back walls, and 4 inches across the roof deck.

We also added additional foam around the lower perimeter areas to help eliminate weak points and improve overall insulation performance. Once the required foam thickness was achieved, we finished the project with a durable protective coating system for a clean, long-lasting finish.

Projects like this are exactly why we love what we do, helping local businesses improve energy efficiency, protect their investments, and build better facilities right here in our community.

Another local project completed south of Holly, Colorado.

Big thanks to Chase Rushton and CNR Enterprises, LLC for trusting EZ Foam Insulation on this Quonset hut. We sprayed 2 inches of closed cell foam 11 feet up from the ground all the way around.

The customer’s still got more plans ahead for the building, and hopefully we’ll be back soon to finish the rest up.
