Air Operated Double Diaphragm (AODD) Pumps for Industrial Transfer & Mining are the standard specification for hazardous fluid transfer, abrasive slurry handling, and remote-site pumping where electrical power is unavailable or prohibited. WSI stocks 419+ AODD units and parts from ARO, Sandpiper, Versamatic, and Flojet — covering 1/4” to 3” port sizes and flows up to 41+ GPM.
Operating Principle
AODD pumps use compressed air to alternately flex two diaphragms, drawing fluid through inlet check valves and discharging through outlet check valves. Key operational characteristics:
· No electricity required — runs on plant air (40–120 psi supply typical)
· Self-priming — handles suction lifts up to 20 ft
· Dry-run safe — no damage from running without fluid
· Deadhead capable — stalls safely against closed discharge valve; no motor burnout
· Solids handling — passes solids up to diaphragm chamber diameter depending on model
