SEWER CONSTRUCTION IS STARTING!!!

We here on the sewer team hope you had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to fall. With the end of season almost here, it is time to start sewer work here in town. This is our first Facebook post of the season, and we will be posting every Thursday (or sometimes Friday) until work ends in June of 2027. We hope you find these posts informative and helpful while we continue this very important project. Here goes….

While we will not be giving weekly updates on the satellite treatment facility over on Route 6, we do want to give you the current update on how the project went this summer and where we are heading into the fall. The dewatering of the site is still happening, and we expect this to continue until February/March of 2027. They have poured the concrete base mat as well as the lower walls for the Headworks Building. Over the fall and winter they will continue pouring concrete for the remaining lower walls as well as the elevated slabs for the Headworks Building. In the spring of 2027 they will backfill the Headworks Building and start masonry work for the electrical room and chemical storage room. The completion of the satellite treatment facility is on schedule to be completed at the end of 2028/beginning of 2029.

The Central Vacuum Station down on Ryder Street Ext, is still undergoing upgrades even though the structure itself has been complete since last year. This fall and winter they will be installing new sewage pumps, new vacuum pumps, new odor control carbon absorbers as well as electrical upgrades. During this work there will be some planned shutdowns of the vacuum sewer. When this needs to occur there will be ample notification of what this shutdown will entail and what you as residents and business owners will need to do (or not do) during these shutdowns. We will do our best to keep you informed every step of the way as to make the inconvenience short and as easy as possible.

Starting week ending 9/11/26 the Robert B. Our Company will be mobilizing equipment and supplies to the parking spots on Winslow Street. These spots will be coned off in advance, and you can still use the available spots on Winslow Street. RBO will also be doing mark outs on both Jerome Smith Road and Winslow Street.

Starting week ending 9/18/26 and continuing thru mid October, RBO will be doing mark outs, sewer line installation and sewer stub installation on both Jerome Smith Road and Winslow Street. They plan to start at the Jerome Smith end and work their way towards the VMCC. During this work, which will start at 7am and end at 4pm daily, will involve full road closures. You must plan ahead for parking as well as entering or exiting your property during working hours.

The sewer team would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding during this very important project. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email Sherry Prada, DPW Deputy Director at 508-487-7060 or [email protected].
