✈️ Flying from airport to airport… by road, of course! 🚛😄

We’ve been making plenty of trips back and forth between MLPS and St. Paul, and we’re happy to say the stone portion of the St. Paul project is officially complete! 🙌🪨

We’re not quite ready to say goodbye just yet! We’ll be back later this year to install some very large overlay granite pavers and galvanized water basins. But for now, the big equipment is heading back to MLPS. 🚜💨

Until next time, St. Paul! 👋 We’ll see you again soon!

A beautiful sunset was the perfect finishing touch to wrapping up our retaining wall in Lindstrom MN! It was a pleasure working with Minger Construction on the project. This one came with some tight quarters and fast timeline but with the right crew and equipment it came together just right. Our 235 did have some DEF issues, which put yhr machine limp mode 😡 Luckily Minger had a CAT325 onsite for us to use and get by. It wasn’t an ideal demo situation but it was fun to try out the CAT and compare it to the Devlon. Both machines are zero tail which was a must for the project. They are similar in weight but the CAT does weigh a little more. Stability is good with both of them. The CAT was very smooth and surprisingly slightly quieter than the Devlon. Power is similar but the 235 Devlon is a little quicker. The CAT had some nice storage compartments for tools and such and the Devlon is more limited on space. It was a bummer not having the tilt rotator on the CAT, but the Raveling bucket is about the best bucket you can get if you don’t have the fancy tilty. The Raveling is balanced just perfectly and shaped just right. Raveling definitely has our vote for a superior bucket!

As we are working through all our projects this season the Devlon 235 has really been a weapon. It’s little brother the Devlon 140 has also been essential to all our jobs and having both paired with tilt rotators has been ideal for every job this year. Having the right equipment makes all the difference. We are happy to support Lano Equipment for providing and setting up our equipment. Steelwrist North America & 🇸🇪 engcon USA 🇺🇸 for the tilt rotators and couplers, & last but not least CMP Attachments 🇺🇸 for the bottom half grapples. Everything has been perfect for the work we have this year!

They showed up.
They worked hard.
They occasionally required snack breaks.
And now they’re off to school.
Guess we’ll have to make do without them. 😂

Airport post

The 235 has made it to the airport. Added road pads for the new pavement princess. Short term…. Until she goes back to the dirt. The 235 has been set up to help set the large granite blocks along the concourse. There are 38 blocks to set anywhere from 6,000-26,000 lbs in this area. The ones over 15,000 lbs we plan to get a little help from a local tow company to set with a large wrecker/rotator. Most of the blocks will need to be set at night for lowest traffic conflicts/impacts. Hopefully this may be the last week of night work. Going on 4 weeks now and the night crew is looking forward to days but the 235 is ready to rumble!

We’re making great progress on the MSP Terminal 1 airport project. Our crews have been working both day and night shifts to keep the job moving, with the arrivals and departures areas completed overnight to minimize disruptions to airport traffic.
We only have another week or two of night work before everyone is back on days.
The has been the perfect machine for this project, especially when paired with the Steelwrist North America and CMP Attachments 🇺🇸 Hydra Grapple. It made it possible to place the massive granite outcroppings exactly where the architect wanted—something that would have been extremely difficult otherwise.

We also added bolt-on undercarriage counterweights along with bolt-on/clip-on rubber pads, and the improvement in stability has been incredible!

A big thank you to Supreme Rockeries & Excavation for the advice and ideas. We built our version in-house and chose to bolt the weights on instead of welding them, making it easy to remove them for track adjustments or any future maintenance.

Proud of the team’s hard work and looking forward to wrapping up the night shifts soon!

Boardwalk post

After what seemed like an eternity waiting on specialty lumber, we were finally able to complete our supposed to be winter boardwalk project a few weeks back.

It sure would have been nice to do the job all during winter months like originally intended but sometimes things just don’t work out. So we adapt and adjust. It was a challenging and interesting project but it turned out well and is back open to the public.

After 5 years of running a tiltrotator in our fleet, it still amazes us how versatile and efficient they are. We have both an & and they both help us do amazing work

We recently wrapped up a small step and grading project at a cabin with extremely tight working conditions. While the 235 may have seemed oversized for a project like this, it turned out to be the perfect machine for the job. We were able to stay positioned at the top of the steps in one spot and complete the entire installation from there.

With the amount of trees surrounding the site, our only option was to swing all of the material over the deck. Definitely not the ideal approach, but having the Hydra Grapple equipped with lock valves gave us added peace of mind. Even with that extra safety measure, we still took every precaution and made sure each step had a secure grip before moving it.

One of the biggest advantages of the tiltrotator is the ability to quickly switch between attachments without ever leaving the cab. The time savings and efficiency really add up on projects like this.
The backyard was also extremely tight and had already begun eroding from previous construction. We carefully worked our way in with the 235, removed several dead trees, excavated a patio, hauled in 18 loads of fill, and graded our way back out.

Before adding a tiltrotator to our fleet, a project like this would have taken significantly longer, required much more labor, and been far more challenging overall. With the tiltrotator, it became a smooth, efficient, and enjoyable project that we completed in just a couple of days. #235
