Ace Bees

Ace Bees Specializing in live honey bee colony and swarm removal in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

Ace Bees was founded by a husband and wife team whose interest in beekeeping began when they were working for Texas Instruments in El Salvadore where they met a farmer who kept bees on the roof of his house. Horacio and Shirley then began keeping bees themselves in 1990 as a hobby. In 2000 the need for professional removal of bees from bushes, trees, homes and other structures prompted them to fo

rm a business which specialized in non-lethal removal. Whenever possible the bees are relocated to a permanent hive at their farm in Princeton. Ace Bees is licensed by the State of Texas and fully insured.

Spring is when most beehives start to swarm. When a beehive gets too large they create a new queen. The old queen will then leave with about 40% of the bees. In this stage the bees are looking for a more permanent place to make a hive and will send out "scout" bees while the others stay together in one place.

While some parts of the U.S. have been experiencing record cold temperatures this year, you may be wondering what about the bees? Don't worry about them, they are probably warmer than we are. Bees cluster together in their hive and vibrate their wings to generate heat and keep their hive at a constant 95 degrees.

I had this tasty treat this weekend and loved it so much I had to share it with you! This is the simplest baked brie you will ever make. Slice the rind of the top of a double-cream brie round, place this cut-side up on a microwavable plate and top with 2 T honey and 1 T chopped thyme or rosemary. Microwave until it starts to bubble (30 seconds - 1 minute). Enjoy with crackers or bread. Delicious!
