Most company outings don't involve ringing steel at 600 yards, navigating a canyon full of unknown-distance targets, or sprinting between shooting positions against the clock.

The Intermark Invitational wasn't your average team event.

Over the course of the day, our team faced a series of challenges that tested precision, focus, problem-solving, and a little friendly competitiveness. From the "Know Your Limits" challenge: where shooters worked their way from a 12-inch target all the way down to a 2-inch target; to long-range canyon shots, speed courses, and tactical run-and-gun stages, every challenge brought something different to the table.

There were some impressive shots.
There were some missed shots.
And there was plenty of trash talk in between.

But what made the day memorable wasn't the scores. It was watching a group of people who spend their days solving problems together, building projects together, and working through challenges together get the opportunity to enjoy some well-earned time outside of work.

The projects we complete are important. The relationships behind them are even more meaningful.

We're grateful for a team that's willing to work hard, have fun, and show up for each other both on and off the jobsite.

The best part of Intermark has never been the steel.

It's the people.

Milo sat down and talked with us about the gap that existed in the Salt Lake market years ago.

At the time, there really wasn’t a strong local player in the miscellaneous steel space that could compete at the level of the larger national companies (especially when it came to precision, coordination, and high-end ex*****on).

That gap is part of what Intermark was built to solve.

The goal was never just to be another steel company. It was to create a local solution that could deliver the same level of quality, professionalism, and capability as the biggest players in the industry, while still being agile, relationship-driven, and deeply connected to the community.

Looking back now, it’s incredible to see how far that vision has come.

And conversations like this are a reminder that companies don’t grow by accident. They grow because people are willing to recognize a need, take a risk, and build something better.

What’s a market gap or problem you’ve seen someone solve really well in your industry? And what gaps still exist?

When Matt's wife, Miranda, talks about the early days of Intermark, one thing becomes very clear:

She understood the journey before it even started.

Growing up with an entrepreneurial father, she had already seen what it takes to build something from the ground up.; The long hours, the sacrifice, the uncertainty, and the belief required to keep going before anyone else can see the vision.

And early on in their marriage, she saw that same fire in Matt.

A willingness to work hard.
To risk comfort for opportunity.
To build something meaningful, even when the outcome wasn’t guaranteed.

She knew the path ahead wouldn’t always be easy, but she also believed the sacrifice would be worth it to build something great together.

Looking back now, it’s incredible to see how much of themselves has been poured into Intermark over the years.

Businesses may start with an idea, but they’re sustained by people willing to believe in the vision through every season along the way.

Raise your hand if you are an "unhireable" entrepreneur!

Before Intermark became what it is today, there were people who helped lay the foundation, project by project, lesson by lesson.

Milo is one of those people.

We recently sat down with him to reflect on the early days of Intermark Steel. It brought back a lot of memories. As one of Intermark’s estimators for many years, Milo brought a tremendous amount of knowledge, experience, and perspective to the team.

Long before many people knew the name Intermark, Milo was already part of the journey. He worked for Schuff during our very first project at Alta View Clinic and Hospital, a project that helped set everything in motion.

Tag someone in your career that helped shape the path you’re on today!

Picture this: 🍿 It's movie night! You grab your popcorn, find your seat, and settle in for the show. The theater is dark. The show is about to start. You settle into your comfy chair.

Underneath those theater-style seats is an incredible amount of structure, coordination, and engineering making the entire experience possible.

We recently completed our scope at the Daybreak Megaplex, which included structural and miscellaneous steel, including the massive raker beams that create the elevated stadium seating throughout the theater.

A huge project and a major accomplishment for our team.

Projects like this are a reminder that some of the most important work is never fully seen once the building is finished. It’s built into the experience itself.

Next time you sit down in a theater, you might think about what’s holding it all together.

Businesses aren’t just built through projects and long hours. They’re built through people who believe in each other enough to keep going through every challenge, risk, win, and setback along the way.

Emerging companies take more than sweat and grit. They also take talent, passion, attention, big ideas, and people that cheer each other on.

To the spouses and families who support entrepreneurs, builders, and business owners behind the scenes... thank you.

So much of what gets built wouldn’t happen without you too.

To Miranda (Matt's wife) and the many others like her who have helped carry the weight of building something special alongside their families, we see you, and we’re grateful for you.

Who has helped you get to where you are today? Give them a shoutout in the comments.

Project complete!

Our team recently wrapped up our scope at the Huntsman Foundation Building, including work on the new roof terrace and light structural modifications.

This was a unique project from start to finish. The soft curves in the architecture and structural design pushed for precision and attention to detail at every stage, and the end result speaks for itself.

Timeless design... thoughtful ex*****on... it turned out beautifully.

We are proud of the team that brought this one across the finish line.

We think this project will stand the test of time.

We had such a great time a the AISC Steel Conference!

From conversations at the booth to reconnecting with partners and meeting new people in the industry, it was time well spent.

There’s a lot happening right now across the industry! New projects, new challenges, and a lot of momentum across the board. It’s always valuable to step away from the day-to-day and get face-to-face with the people driving it.

Appreciate everyone who came by and spent time with our team.

We’re excited for what’s ahead.

What has been your favorite conference this year? Are there any we need to add to our list?
