Bird's-eye view of a wraparound porch in the making.

Before modern air conditioning, porches were an important part of keeping homes comfortable. The covered space provides shade around the house and can reduce direct solar heat entering windows and walls.

Different sides of the home can offer different experiences depending on the time of day; morning coffee in one area, afternoon shade in another, and evening views somewhere else.

Cabinet installation is one of those stages where a room really begins to come together. The walls and floors may still be unfinished, but once the cabinets are in place, you can start to see the layout and overall flow of the space.

In the coming weeks we'll add the countertops, appliances, and finishing touches, and the vision really starts to come together.

Another layer, another step closer to the finish line.

The first layer of stucco is going up, giving this home the foundation for its finished exterior and bringing the vision one step closer to reality.

And while the house is taking shape, Arizona is putting on quite the show. This time of year, the landscape can be surprisingly green, with open fields stretching toward the mountains and a beautiful backdrop for this build.

From blueprints to reality, one layer at a time.

These photos highlight the importance of great 'Foundation' management.

With the heavy rains that came through over the last week, there were concerns of erosion and loss of the "mound." Thankfully all the drainage routes were correctly placed and, while the space around the mound looks washed out, the foundation stands strong!

This custom built staircase requires some serious hardware to make sure it performs for years to come.

Fun fact: modern steel connectors like these are one of the reasons exposed timber architecture has become so popular. Decades ago, a lot of these structural connections had to remain visible and bulky because of engineering limitations. Today, fabricated steel hardware can be engineered to hide inside beams and posts or create ultra-clean “floating” timber aesthetics while still meeting strict load requirements.

We're working on upgrading our tech to better support our clients and vendors. This drone footage shows the framing prior to trusses being added to support the roof. This is always one of my favorite stages as the blueprints finally start to look like a reality.
