A purpose bigger than just electrical work—giving back to the special needs & disability community, inspired by our children, Rhett & Kate. We’re Southern Circuits, a family-run electrical company owned by Scott and Madison Callegan. What started as a small dream has grown into a business built on trust, quality, and community. From lighting upgrades to full home wiring, we treat every project like it’s our own—because to us, it’s more than just work.

This may be a little different from our normal Southern Circuits posts, but we figured who better to ask than our own community!

We’re putting some feelers out for 1.5+ acres in the Prairieville area, especially something that may not even be on the market yet. We’re in absolutely NO rush to build, but we are in a position to purchase the right piece of land now and sit on it until we’re ready.

As our daughter Kate gets bigger, her needs are growing too. We’re starting to realize that our current home may not always work for what she needs. With her being medically complex, we’d love to eventually build a home with accessibility in mind from the very beginning instead of trying to adapt a home later. And of course, Scott would like enough property for a Southern Circuits shop too.

*One pretty important requirement for us is NO ponds, lakes, bayous, canals, etc. on or immediately next to the property. With Rhett having autism, water is a safety concern for us, so that’s one thing we can’t budge on.* (YES, we have our hands full! )

We figured we’d start asking around now because sometimes somebody knows somebody who has a piece of property they’ve thought about selling but just hasn’t listed yet. If you or someone you know has 1.5+ acres in Prairieville that you might consider selling (even if it’s completely off market right now), send us a message! We’re not in a hurry, just hoping to find the right piece of property for our family.

And if it helps our case for anyone considering selling us their land… we keep our grass cut, our flowerbeds are on a monthly weeding maintenance plan (shout out to Curbside Solutions), we’re decent neighbors, AND we don’t like people at our house past 8pm.

I feel like those are pretty solid qualifications. :D

**CALLING ALL 3D PRINTERS — or tag somebody you know who has one!**

Y’all know that the disability community has become a huge part of the *why* behind Southern Circuits. When something has the potential to give a child more independence, more inclusion, or simply the ability to experience their world a little differently, we’re going to talk about it.

MakeGood Assistive Design, an organization that connects families of children with mobility challenges with volunteer makers who 3D print custom **Toddler Mobility Trainers (TMTs)** — completely FREE to the family.

We put in a build request for Kate yesterday, fully expecting it to be a waitlist, just like everything else always is... & It was accepted THIS MORNING. Less than 24 hours later.

If you’ve ever had to fight insurance for adaptive equipment, wait months for an approval, or watch your child progress—or regress—while somebody else decides whether they’re “ready” or “qualified” for the equipment they need… you understand why something like this matters so much.

Kids shouldn’t have to wait for independence.

So now I’m calling on our community...
If you have a 3D printer, know how to use one, or know somebody who does — **PLEASE TAG THEM.** Maybe something you consider a hobby could give a child the chance to MOVE. 💜

You don't have to be a therapist, doctor, or DME company to make an impact in the disability community. Sometimes you just need a 3D printer and a willingness to help the next family.

**Let’s get some Louisiana makers involved. ⚡️💜**
There are still tons of kids in the area needing to be claimed by a maker!

Milwaukee sent us their M18 FUEL™ 1-3/4” SDS MAX Rotary Hammer to test out and review…& this thing didn’t get babied for a review.
We put it to WORK on actual electrical jobs, and it has officially earned its spot in the Southern Circuits lineup. 😂

So, Milwaukee Tool… if y’all happen to have anything else laying around that needs some real-world Louisiana electrician testing…
We know a guy. 👀😂

At Southern Circuits, supporting the disability community is personal to us. As parents of two children with special needs, we know firsthand how important inclusion, accessibility, advocacy, and community support can be. Our mission is to use our business and our platform to show up for individuals with disabilities and the families who love them—whether that means sponsoring inclusive events, supporting local programs, raising awareness, or simply helping where we can.
We may be electricians by trade, but we believe our purpose reaches far beyond electrical work. Our work is electrical. Our purpose is community.

This Zinsco panel was giving…
“I’ve been working since Nixon was president.” vibes 😬

We upgraded this aging Zinsco panel to a new Square D, bringing the electrical system into this century.

Bayou Crumb Company added a new bread oven last week, and we were happy to help get it powered up safely and ready to bake.
Whether it's a new oven, new equipment, or a full commercial build-out, we're proud to help local businesses keep moving forward.
Congratulations, Bayou Crumb Company! We can't wait to see what comes out of that oven. 🍞⚡
