Took only an hour to remove all trash, cigarette butts, and w**ds from the Discovery Park across from the library!! 🗑🫡🌳

Our volunteers also labeled plants and installed six new lavender starters🪻☘️ grown locally by and charitably donated by Jerry and Janice of the Collectible Car Museum on Centre Street in Pottsville🫶🏁🚗

Please come visit our budding public green space next time you come to borrow a book📚🌻

Tomorrow evening our gardeners will be at Discovery Park to w**d and label these lovely blooms!👋 If youre passing by please say hello!

🔎🌻🌼Scoping out ahead, we're spotting plenty of CA poppy, cosmos, and marigolds as well as some lanceleaf coreopsis and sunflowers! All thanks to the toddlers who scattered seeds back in March at our Seedling Stroll

Our next work days are June 22 and June 23 at 4pm!

Our focus will be removing poison ivy and invasive species, so please bring gloves, sturdy footwear, and a change of shirt if you are particularly sensitive. We are hoping to make the Pocket Park safe and accessible for family visitors from the Live Butterfly Event at Black Rock on July 12th!

🎨🌷Pausing from Pocket Park posts: it's the Cabbage Patch! A community education garden in Lancaster which we happened upon during our trip to the invasive replace-ive event!

🌼🫜We were so blessed to observe this dedicated group of gardeners from breaking ground on this project. They installed raised vegetable beds and a "rainbow" of native flowers in a weaving path along a chain-linked fence. This garden is free to use and tools are provided at the site, conveniently located beside a baseball field and playground. Neighbors came together with kids in tow, taking turns and sharing knowledge as they installed plants from

🐞🦋We had the opportunity to ask questions about their funding, process, and hopes for this space. The Cabbage Patch is proof of concept for the urban green spaces we want to implement in Pottsville! -- beautiful, family-friendly gardens which serve as a COMMON GROUND for bringing neighbors together!
