Was able to wrap up this backyard bug free paradise this week in Gilbertsville. The existing deck was removed and a new Trex deck was constructed using the Select line with their new color Whiskey Barrel. A new Roof was constructed over the deck, and while that provided a dry space underneath, it also blocked some natural light coming into the existing house. Enter the addition of two skylights to let some of that light through and brighten both spaces! Installation of the ScreenEZ system, when paired with a Larson screen door, provide a bug free environment. As always, thank you to for supplying and delivering everything needed to pull this off.

While some people actually end up asking me, I’m sure most of my customers do wonder what “CAB construction”stands for.
As I was driving to pick up materials for a job yesterday, I decided to to stop by the place where my grandparents were buried. Chester A. Badgley played a significant role in teaching me what it means to be a true craftsman.
He took great pride in his work in whatever it was. For a long time he was a self-employed wallpaper hanger in the Pottstown area, and as the story goes, he was the best around. I’ve heard people wondered why he didn’t charge more for his top level services, And it was because he didnt want to price people out of having a top-notch job done on their house. He made a good living doing what he loves, and that was good enough for him.
He wasn’t a businessman, he was a craftsman, who got paid to do what he loved.
I’m not sure exactly what my legacy is going to be, That’s still being decided I guess, but I hope people can say about me that I was a craftsman that got paid to do what he loves!

Here’s some progress pictures of our latest project. Replacing an old deck with a new Trex one and a new roof and screened room over it. Had a chance to try Fastenmaster‘s new deck board installation tool, got to think about trying to start saving the knees!
