This original deck had been redone years ago with first generation Trex, but the framing, the homeowner told us, was 60 years old. It didn’t look a day over 50!

Another small project checked off the list. We had Built this deck and enclosed screen room with roof earlier this summer. The customers wanted to add to it a new sliding door. No more painting and a much larger viewing area with this Anderson Perma-Shield sliding door w/ internal blinds.

People often say to me “this job is probably too small for you”. While I don’t advertise as a handyman service, I do take care of the needs that come up around the home for our prior customers. Don’t always know when I’ll be able to get to it, but eventually we will.
Today we were able to replace broken glass in a Simonton vinyl window that was installed in 1999. While we were there were there we were able to replace a rotted out garage entry door with a fiberglass unit with PVC extension jams and molding. During install, they decide they wanted a new lock set for the door so we picked up a keyless deadbolt and our friends at A.D. Moyer were able to key the lever and deadbolt alike while we waited.

These new customers of ours from Landis Store couldn’t stand baking in the sun anymore during hot summer days on their south facing patio. So they hired us to build this roof structure with an extended overhang to also give them protection from the rain at the doorway. They wanted a cathedral ceiling look, so we went with a structural ridge. Ceiling boards and the wall above the house are all acre stainable composite boards made from recycled Rice Hull! All the other contractors who looked at the job, said that the extended overhang couldn’t be done. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box and get creative. As usual, A big thanks to our supplier and friends at A.D. Moyer lumber for supplying everything needed to successfully pull this project off.

Took my third phone call of the week today for somebody looking for a deck. All three were hoping to have it done by the end of this Summer.
Consider this a public service announcement.
By the time you’re actually able to have a consultation with a reputable contractor, Get the project designed with stress analysis and all your load ratings, have a proposal submitted, agree upon everything you want to have done, and go through the submittal and review process for permits, which take about a month usually, nothing is getting done in less than two months!
