Happy Monday! It’s been a hectic few weeks, from starting a knob-and-tube rewire to changing light fixtures for some of our repeat customers.

Knob-and-tube rewires are another one of our specialties. Knob-and-tube was introduced in the 1880s and was one of the first home wiring methods. This home was built in 1923, meaning some of the wiring is over 100 years old!

The wiring was still functioning, but the new homeowners wanted to make the house as safe as possible. Jobs like this require plenty of holes in the walls to get the proper wiring where it needs to go.

With everything brought up to the National Electrical Code, we’ll be calling for inspection this week.

Something doesn't smell right. Yep thats it right there.

We got called into a home in Pottsgrove this morning for a customer with a partial loss of power. We found the issue pretty quickly and got it replaced all before sunrise. Then it was off to meet the rest of the crew at a rewire in Radnor.

Panels should be inspected and breakers tested. Maintenance on your electrical system is important. Even if there has not been an issue for years, there could potentialy be one coming. Give us a call 484-300-6304

You have got to appreciate a township that has their license be good for a year from the issue date and not expiring 12/31.

I spend the first few weeks of January every year, running around to about 20 different city halls and township buildings. Just to renew my masters license in the areas I know we will be working in. They all expire 12/31. Some areas we are not in constantly have to wait until we need a permit. As we needed for this complete rewire we are starting next week. It's nice knowing I don't have to worry about this license again until Sep 2027.

We may have stopped for a Taco Tuesday special for lunch but things didn't get heated up until an afternoon service call.

They called us because they were having issues with the main breaker tripping. When we opened the panel it was pretty clear there was an issue. This 100A backfed breaker was hot to the touch. We replaced the breaker with a new 100A, but a new panel is definitely recomended. Breakers can go bad and become faulty over time, but there may have been another cause

The NEC now requires that any plug in breaker used as a backfed main must be "secured in place" by an additional fastener. This is to ensure that the main breaker, with all the power you are using passing through it, is tight.

Loose connections and electricity do not get along well together.

Happy Labor Day!!! We hope everyone got to enjoy it and spend some time relaxing.

It has been very packed summer. Plenty of long, hot days and weeks for all of us here. And the fall is on track to be just as busy.

We got to enjoy a nice long weekend to end the summer with some fresh air, and some campsite visitors. Tomorrow we are back at it again, roughing in another commercial space.

Now that the summer is wrapping up. Its time to start planning fall and winter projects. Have you been thinking about any.....

I HATE HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!!!!

I know for many parents, this week was the first time hearing that phrase in a few months. And although On Point can't help you with your childs algebra homework, that you yourself hadn't seen for 20 years. Or give you any advice on how to handle your temper in the all out warfare known as the Drop off/Pick up line. We can try to help in a small way.

We have all been busy working on quite a few ongoing projects this week. And it is hard to take pictures when you are busy working and your hand are very dirty. These popped up on my memories the other day. All from around the time I just started the idea of On Point Electrical Contracting LLC.

A few of you may remember way back. Before On Point. When it was just Me, a tool bag, some electrical knowledge, and a ladder stuffed in the back of a Honda Accord (seats down).
