We have all been busy working on quite a few ongoing projects this week. And it is hard to take pictures when you are busy working and your hand are very dirty. These popped up on my memories the other day. All from around the time I just started the idea of On Point Electrical Contracting LLC.

A few of you may remember way back. Before On Point. When it was just Me, a tool bag, some electrical knowledge, and a ladder stuffed in the back of a Honda Accord (seats down). It has been a busy Friday for us. 2 trucks, 2 service calls, installing ceiling fans, 2 final inspections, a lot of milage, many happy customers and 1 impressed electrical inspector I've never worked with before. He even asked for our card for when he needs work done at the properties he renovates.

We got to inspect and close out a project that has been in process for over 6 months. It took countless phone calls between GM, the township, the engineering firm handling the permit and inspection. Hours of reading manuals and doing the drawings for permits.

Let us present our GM Home Hub and Powershift Charger!!! All inspected and commissioned.

This battery back up system allows seamless transition when utility power goes out. It can hold over 15kWh on hand. The charger allows you to plug in your GM EV so your home can either pull power directly from its batteries or use it to charge up your home battery. And if that is not enough, there is also a solar aray that we were able to tie in that is able to charge it up.

We had this up and running in the middle of July. The following week they lost utility power for over 4 days. Between the home battery and their vehicle, they were able to stay energized the entire time, SILENTLY!!

Had a great day helping out our good friend Brian over at Full Draw Electrical Contracting. We were able to upgrade this non-code-compliant 200-amp service to a new 400-amp service, bringing the system up to the proper NEC requirements and getting the power back on safely and efficiently. A few minor finishing touches will be completed tomorrow to officially wrap up the job.

This is something we see far too often—owners choosing the cheaper option upfront, only to end up paying more in the long run when the work needs to be corrected or brought up to code. Doing the job right the first time matters.

Great communication, and teamwork from start to finish. Teamwork truly makes the dream work, and there’s no other crew we’d rather work alongside. Looking forward to many more projects together!

Lights flickering? It may not be just a bad bulb. This customer called us in because they were noticing lighting issues throughout the house. Upon opening the panel it was pretty clear a highly corroded neutral bar was to blame. We we able to do a temporary fix until we can back to do the full panel swap.

A bad or floating neutral can cause many issues in your home. It can cause voltages to swing way out of normal range and could potentially cause appliances to be damaged or burned out. If you notice anything out of the ordinary with your home electrical system, please reach out to us 484-300-6304.

Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panels, the 20A breakers are the same color as the flames they can cause. They are known for not tripping during a current overload causing the wiring to overheat, causing fire. That is why they need to be replaced.

If you have any older panels in your home or business that you are unsure about, give us a call. Federal Pacific is not the only old manufacturer that have since had issues with their products. We have years of experience with many different types and will give ypu an honest answer.

WHERE IS THAT COMING FROM??

This customer will no longer have to ask that question. After a false alarm, some frantic searching, a 911 call with some fire engines, they called us in. We replaced every detector in their home with new First Alert smart detectors. Now they will be able see everything they need to know on their phone. It will constantly check and update the status of all the detectors in your home. And God forbid there is smoke or carbon monoxide, it will send alerts telling you what room it is coming from.
