With a nuanced sense of fluidity, our Country Abode home draws guests inside through a welcoming front entry framed by an eyebrow overhang and flared shingle walls. An inset second-story window sits between curved walls that help weave the upper floor into the home’s massing with both creativity and restraint.

Viewed from the lake, this stone-and-shingle home is defined by its complementary custom boathouse and intricate skirted stonework, which anchors the structures to the site.

Thoughtful design details reveal themselves with closer proximity, including a hallway connector that preserves a front-to-back lake sight-line and strategically placed windows along the water-facing facade that capture picturesque views.

When designing a home, one of the seemingly simple but most crucial pieces of the architectural puzzle is considering how a homeowner hopes to live within and throughout their home on a daily basis.

Of this timber-frame lake home, our client says, “One of my favorite aspects of the home is how we designed the connection to the outdoor space. It’s a collection of little decisions that make such a difference. When I spoke with Jason about our program and what we wanted to achieve, he took that and focused in on how we wanted to interact with the property. The team nailed it, and they helped us achieve everything we set out to do. That speaks to the TMS process.”

Thank you to our client for sharing their experience; helping our clients create homes they love is at the heart of everything we do.

Aside from the intentionally proportioned massing of this beachside home, other deliberate details add a sense of character and craftsmanship to the exterior. From the shingled brackets to decorative corbels and flared frieze boards, each element alludes to the classic New England architectural style that inspired the design.

With the exterior trim soon to be painted and interior spaces on the road to completion, we’re excited to take you along for the ride. Stay tuned.

Recently earning the 2026 New Hampshire Home award for best remodel/renovation, the history of this centuries-old carriage house played a significant role in our approach to revitalizing the building.

Says Principal Architect Tim Giguere, “The existing walk out level, once used for pigs and milking cows and later converted to mid century storage, became the perfect opportunity to create a private, ground level mudroom entrance for the new residence. The natural topography and the presence of a secondary service barn entry made this transformation seamless, allowing the new living space to function independently from the main estate while still feeling connected to the property’s heritage.”

With a direct view of the water through the entryway, this shingle-style lake home was designed around the daily lives our clients had envisioned from the beginning. The front facade features several side porches that provide opportunities for more intimate moments, while a small “rock garden” created by several of the existing boulders became a natural playground for the grandchildren to enjoy.
