We're celebrating the rich histories and lasting influence of Hispanic and Latino communities in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Heritage is carried through generations, shaped by family stories, cultural traditions and the experiences of those who came before us. For many, it also carries a story of immigration: leaving home, building a new life and bringing traditions and perspectives that become part of the communities we share.

That legacy can be seen and felt everywhere. Hispanic and Latino voices have shaped our neighborhoods, influenced our culture and contributed to the way our communities continue to grow and evolve.

Together, we celebrate the resilience, cultural pride and enduring contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities and the immigrant journeys that have helped build and strengthen our nation.

Investing in safer, more resilient schools.

We’re supporting Portland Public Schools at Rose City Park Elementary School as part of ongoing seismic retrofit and re-roofing improvements.

Working alongside Holmes Engineering and Windsor Engineers, our team assessed the existing school and documented conditions and recommendations to help strengthen the building’s seismic resilience, roof performance and long-term durability.

This work is an important part of extending the life of existing schools and creating safe, durable learning environments for generations of students and staff.

We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Portland Public Schools and our engineering partners on this important work.

For Job Captain Jess Cammarata, her Venezuelan roots have instilled a deep appreciation for family, community and hospitality.

“Those values have influenced the way I think about creating spaces. I want them to feel welcoming, bring people together and create opportunities for connection.”

The different experiences and perspectives each person brings to the design process make our work stronger. They help us think beyond our own experiences and create architecture that better reflects the many people who will ultimately experience and use these spaces.

For Jess, that starts with a simple idea: creating places where people feel welcome.

Please join us in welcoming Nathalie Hutchinson to as a new Job Captain! 👏

Nathalie is an equity-centered civic designer who brings 6 years of industry experience spanning public sector, K-12 education and community-centered design, a Master of Architecture from Portland State University and a certificate of Public Interest Design.

Her work is rooted in trauma-informed design principles and a deep belief that the built environment carries a responsibility to the people who move through it, especially those who have been underserved by it.

When she is not designing, you will find Nathalie longboarding, restoring cars, or cooking something delicious.

All hands on deck at Cesar Chavez!

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes to keep Portland’s schools strong, safe and ready for the future.

We’re partnering with Portland Public Schools on a complete re-roof and roof-level seismic improvements of this K-8, tackling everything from metal and clay tile roofing to parapet bracing and seismic improvements at building entries.

The work goes inside, too, with skylights being reopened, water-damaged ceilings repaired and damaged walls and windows replaced in the cafetorium.

It’s the kind of work that may not always be visible once the project is complete, but it represents an important investment in the life of the school and the students, staff and community it serves.

Interior designers Hayley Gaines and Jess Cammarata were recently named to Interior Design Magazine’s 30 Under 30 Portland cohort, recognizing emerging designers who are making an impact on the industry.

Hayley and Jess joined fellow honorees at the Portland 30/30 event to celebrate the creativity, talent and ideas shaping the future of interior design.

It’s exciting to see their work and contributions recognized by the broader design community, and we’re fortunate to have their talent on our team.

🚨 New project work 🚨

We’re proud to share some of our recent work supporting Portland Public Schools with fire alarm system upgrades throughout the district.

Our team members Jess Cammarata and Nathan Streib collaborated closely with PPS to implement code-compliant fire alarm solutions designed to improve safety and reliability across school facilities.

By investing in modern life-safety systems and bringing existing infrastructure up to current standards, PPS is helping protect the students, staff and educators who rely on these buildings every day.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with Portland Public Schools and put our expertise to work for our local community.

We believe the best projects begin by listening.

Working alongside the Reynolds School District community, we helped shape a bond planning process that reflected local priorities and built broad community support. Those efforts contributed to the successful passage of the district's $125M bond in 2015.

W**e, wildlife and a night out with friends and colleagues! 🍷🦁

A big thank you to Bobby at HL Sterns for inviting members of our team to the Oregon Zoo’s W**e & Wildlife event. We enjoyed connecting with our community, sharing a few laughs and experiencing the zoo after hours.

We’re always grateful for opportunities to step outside the office and spend time with the people who make our work so rewarding.
