A building can do more than support learning. It can actively participate in it.

The strongest educational spaces don’t hide how they work. When visible system, environmental teachings and interactive signage are made visible, students have the opportunity to learn from their built environment in a tangible way every day.

💡 How have you see this approach work best?

This Pride Month, we celebrate the contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals and reaffirm our commitment to creating welcoming environments for all.

We recognize the diversity, creativity and unique perspectives that strengthen our communities and our profession.

As planners, designers and architects, we believe great places are created when everyone feels seen, valued and included. Inclusive design goes beyond buildings and spaces. It helps foster communities where people can live, work, connect and thrive as their authentic selves.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

Trauma Informed Design starts with a simple idea: spaces should help people feel safe. 🌱

Light, layout, acoustics, and materials all shape how we move through the world. When thoughtfully considered, they can reduce stress, support healing, and create a sense of calm and control.

For Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reflecting on the quiet power of design to care for people. Not just functionally, but emotionally.

We design spaces where youth at risk can feel safe, learn and thrive

Project highlight: New Bridge High School provides education and vocational training. We designed the school's LEED Platinum-certified building for sustainable, active learning.

The built environment at its best reflects the people who shape it.

In the Jade District, that means generations of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander business owners shaping a neighborhood that is deeply rooted and fully alive right now. Storefronts, signage and gathering spaces aren’t just expressions of heritage, they create a distinct sense of place you can see, taste and feel.

This is culture that has been here, is here, and continues to shape Portland for everyone who moves through it.

This AANHPI Heritage Month, we’re recognizing the Jade District as a place where culture leads, and the built environment reflects it.

In a fast-moving world, stillness is a design strategy - and calm is a vital and elusive resource.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we invite you to find the spaces that help you pause, reflect and recharge.

At Oh planning+design, architecture, we seek out opportunities to design spaces for calm: places to settle in, soak up the views or simply enjoy a moment of comfort away from the fray.

Because good design doesn’t just support productivity, it supports people. And people are what we're all about.
