Why Choose an Oil-Based Primer?

If youโ€™re tackling a painting project, choosing the right primer is key! Here are some reasons why oil-based primer might be the best choice:

โœ” Superior Stain Blocking โ€“ Covers tough stains like water damage, smoke, and tannin bleed from wood.
โœ” Excellent Adhesion โ€“ Bonds well to surfaces like wood, metal, and previously painted surfaces, even with glossy finishes.
โœ” Seals Porous Surfaces โ€“ Creates a strong, even base for topcoats, especially on raw wood and drywall.
โœ” Smooth Finish โ€“ Helps reduce brush strokes and evens out surface imperfections.
โœ” Durable & Long-Lasting โ€“ Prevents peeling and extends the life of your paint job.

Perfect for cabinets, doors, trim, and high-traffic areas! Just remember, oil-based primer takes longer to dry and requires mineral spirits for cleanup, but the results are worth it.

And yes you can use latex paint over oil based primer you cannot use oil based paint over latex primer so be careful!

Would you use oil-based primer for your next project? Let me know in the comments!
