You can help celebrate NHPA's 60th birthday!

Sixty years ago today when Congress passed the National Historic Preservation Act, half of the historic places the federal government had documented in the Historic American Buildings Survey were already gone. Section 106 was built on that collective grief about the treasures we had destroyed.

Today, we are collectively launching 106 Strong, the growing coalition of over 1,000 organizations and Tribal Nations, representing more than nine million Americans, to make sure we never go back. We'd be honored to have you alongside us in the fight.

So many sacred and historic places have been saved by National Historic Preservation Act, which turns 60 today. Its future is under dire threat.

Beautiful 1892 Porch Replication⁠

This NW Portland Queen Anne Victorian porch is back to looking lovely, thanks to the dream team of Keith, Pete and Taylor. They carefully replicated rotting newel posts and decorative flat-sawn balusters, which now grace the front of this 134 year old home. ⁠Just beautiful. Bravo, team!⁠

Here's a little inspiration: this charming, comfortable office nook was created from an under-used closet in this 1927 Tudor home. ⁠With an original window, subtly shimmering wallpaper and a custom walnut desk with built-ins by , getting to work is downright dreamy. ⁠⁠

In this handsome main bathroom, glass shower panels at the tub are trimmed with antique brass channels. A ceiling-mounted rainshower head, hand shower & tub filler in unlacquered brass are by . The shower walls are clad in white ceramic tile by , and floors are tiled in Nova Blue limestone hex from .

Calacatta Borghini sinks on console legs are handsome, and custom full-inset cabinets by Arciform have Calacatta countertops. When natural light dims for the day, light fixtures by Thomas O’Brien & Alexa Hampton for are pretty and practical.
