Since the 1960s, the Belfast Co-op has been more than a place to shop, it's where the town gathers and trusts they're taken care of. Woodhull's studio worked with the Co-op's board and Warren Construction through a renovation that kept the store open and running the entire time, extending the life of the 1964 building it's always called home.

Floor-to-ceiling built-ins by the Woodhull Millwork team hold this reading room together at Makers Marsh, with wood trim carried through the arched doorway beside it.

At Pine Cove, the kitchen is where craft comes into focus. Meticulously crafted walnut veneers, made in our Brunswick millwork shop, bring warmth to a space set among the pines. It's one part of a home where the attention to detail is subtle but unrelenting.

"I believe that the beauty of our projects is something that will come. I think that the beauty is in the solving of the problem."

Looking for a way to give back this season?

Preble Street helps people in our community who are facing hunger and homelessness, and they always needs volunteers. Shifts run early morning, midday and after work, so there's likely one that fits your schedule. You can come on your own or bring family, friends or coworkers.

Ways to help:
Food Security Hub Kitchen: Prep meals for local shelters and outreach teams. Shifts run daily, and volunteers can be as young as 13 with an adult.
Food Pantry: Pack food boxes and stock shelves, Tuesday through Friday.
Homeless Services Center and Florence House Women's Shelter: Serve breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Meal Deliveries: Use your own car to bring meals to shelters around Portland on weekdays.

Now under one roof on Cumberland Avenue in Portland, Joe's Place brings Preble Street's teen center and overnight shelter together - after years of planning, fundraising, and building.

We're proud to have partnered with Kaplan Thompson Architects and Preble Street to create a place for young people to rest, recover, and connect with the support they need.

The celestory window in this home pulls light onto a sculpted, wedge-shaped ceiling inside. That ceiling in turn reflects and amplify the light downward into the open-plan communal space.
