***Finished Project Update!!***

Pictured here is a new fence installation! (Yes, Coyote West does indeed build a lot of fences!) On top of the bluff in North Portland, Coyote West was able to step in for new home-owners and help transform a space from a garbage storage space into an actual landscape!

If you've followed Coyote West for a while, you might recognize our favorite materials utilized in this project; Galvanized steel posts and gate posts (with custom solar lights), galvanized steel hangers/connectors and fasteners, all pressure treated rails and natural cedar fence pickets. We of course had to use adjustable steel gate frames and j-bolt hinges to provide the longest lasting and most resistant gates possible!

Have you noticed a gate giving you headaches? Possibly a fence getting eaten alive by the elements? Don't hesitate to contact Coyote West! We have experience with fences/gates/demolition and construction - we can help YOU reach that goal with your fence!

Also pictured: grass seed trying it's hardest to get established despite the onslaught from birds, rabbits, squirrels, moles, insects and everything in-between. (Previous property owner neglected the space for nearly 30 years according to neighbor testimony). Stay tuned to see how it progresses!

Happy Monday everyone!

With any luck we are past the frost danger for this Spring! Finally we can start our planting in earnest! Be sure to contact Coyote West sooner than later to get your plant renovations on the schedule and be full speed this summer!

You may have noticed plants acting dry the last few days - let them tough it out! Natural variations in water availability are in a state of flux with our weather patterns the last few years. In order for plants to survive without our constant supervision, they have to be allowed to adapt to the conditions where they are planted. Patience is a virtue here! (Let the rain do the work).

**Finished Project Update!**

Pictured here is a new cedar fence installation in SE Portland! This fence included a new gate, new arbor design, and new gravel walkways! Based from a landscape design, this project was custom installed in order to provide a sense of privacy and space definition from what was an otherwise open 'rear' yard directly accessible from the street.

New steel edging at gravel walkways provides the strongest and longest lasting material divider in landscaping. Gravel stays locked in position after compaction, providing long lasting and secure walking surfaces - no more muddy shoes and boots!

Some other custom details: dog ear fence picket installation, new cedar post caps, new custom design arbor with clear cedar materials, new gate picket design with custom adjust-a-gate frame, pea gravel walkways and firepit area grading/prep/gravel install!

Coyote West is here to help! Whether working from an established design, or folks seeking professional advice, Coyote West can provide the information you are looking for! Free no obligation estimates - Coyote West wants to meet you!

Fences, decks, arbors, gates, pergolas, awnings, retaining walls, pavers, patios, flagstone, gravel, property clean-out (sales/purchases), lawns/sod and more! Ask about how steel materials can add value to your space! (More pictures may follow, be sure to check back and see!)

**Finished Project Update!**

Pictured here is a hardscaping project recently completed for a commercial client in SE Portland. Coyote West was very lucky to be able to finish '25 and start the New Year with this awesome job!

Originally the building was constructed beginning around 1910/1911 with the sidewalk being stamped 1913! The property lines and layout do not match modern standards and there's little to no room for utility along nearly 50% of the footprint. This is where Coyote West was able to step in and help maximize the amount of available space!

We ultimately built several hardscape features with several to highlight: new retaining wall system, new gate/fence with galvanized steel posts, grade/gravel install, soil removal/excavation, steel retention barriers and of course everyone's favorite - solar powered post cap lights!

Retaining walls can provide much more benefit than strictly soil or slope retention; terracing provides level planting surfaces and walking surfaces, walls transform sloped areas into flat useable space, the vast block variety available on the market means there are almost unlimited possibilities with what other features can be used in conjunction - outdoor kitchens, firepits, patios, water features, lawns and more!

As usual, we would really appreciate the opportunity to come visit the space you or your friends and family (or neighbors/coworkers!) are considering and offer some information on how hardscaping can take outdoor living to the next level! (Ask about the ecological and perma-cultural incentives!)

Its Friday Portland Neighbors!!

(It's also been some time since Coyote West has posted an update...)

Just checking in this morning to Thank everyone for their patience and to welcome opportunity as we get this new year up to full speed; Be sure to stay tuned for an upcoming finished project update that will get this season started with a bang!

One thought about this wind: be sure to check on your smaller plants and keep any pruning subdued until we can catch a break from the gusts. Although plants are not actively growing this time of year, they still rely on water access to maintain structure; you may have noticed some small branches breaking off in the wind and this is due to a number of factors being exaggerated in the extra dry conditions brought about by wind. Keep in mind you still need to water any plants and trees that are freshly planted or transplanted.

Additionally, safety is a big concern when working on ladders or cutting from heights, the wind changes the whole dynamic! (You may remember Johnny Cash: "from a logger named Ray. . . . you don't cut timber on a windy day!")

Have a great weekend! As always Coyote West is here to help rebuild those fences, gates, decks, awnings, or patio covers that take the brunt of wind damage. We'd also be happy to help with those pavers, flagstone, retaining walls, water features, lawns, and more!

**Finished Project Update!**

Pictured here is a Fence/Gate(s) replacement with new high grade cedar pickets and custom ordered galvanized steel gate posts. The main gate (RV/Boat parking) is over 13 feet wide!

As usual, Coyote West utilized our favorite galvanized steel fence posts with galvanized steel hangers and pro-grade pressure treated lumber to complete the new fence installation.

In order to match the steel fence posts, new square galvanized steel posts were custom ordered from the local steel vendor to supply the highest possible degree of weather resistance, strength and durability; we capped these gate posts with new solar post lights to complete the modern look!

Utilizing the highest grade cedar pickets allows for the maximum in rot-resistance, color retention and minimizes/eliminates the need for staining or painting over the lifetime of the boards (think 20+ years).

Adjust-a-gate frames were utilized for all three gate openings to provide the cleanest look and maintain the adjustability and durability of the design.

At Coyote West, tailoring custom-fit solutions is the name of the game! We are excited to explore all the possibilities that galvanized steel in any shape or size will provide the world of permaculture. Tell your friends, family and neighbors that Coyote West is here to help create lasting landscape and outdoor living solutions!
