❄️ HVAC Tips for Snow & Ice – From KB’s HVAC ❄️
As winter weather sets in, your heating system works extra hard to keep you warm. Here are a few quick reminders to help protect your HVAC system during snow and ice:
🔥 1. Keep your outdoor unit clear.
Gently remove snow, ice, and debris from around your heat pump or outdoor unit. Leave at least 18–24 inches of space so it can breathe properly.
💨 2. Make sure vents and registers are open.
Closed vents can cause your system to work harder and reduce efficiency.
🧊 3. Never chip ice off your outdoor unit.
This can damage the coils. If heavy ice buildup happens, give us a call—we can safely take care of it.
🌬️ 4. Replace your air filter.
A clogged filter makes your system struggle, especially during extreme cold.
⚠️ 5. If your heat pump goes into defrost mode, don’t panic.
It’s normal! It’s just clearing ice to keep operating efficiently.
If you notice unusual noises, weak airflow, or your system is struggling to keep up, KB’s HVAC is here to help—day or night for emergencies.
Stay warm and stay safe!
