In response to Wesley Johnson

I have been working in the Portland metro for over 2 years now and have worked with many real-estate agents with great success. I am writing to hopefully put some context and clarity for a post made By Wesley Johnson licensed real estate agent with Keller Williams.
I have known Wesley for about two years and he has hired me for many jobs in the past. I would go as far as calling Wesley my friend more than just a client. Wesley recently hired me to work on a flip, it needed all new interior. paint, new doors, vanities, toilets, countertops kitchen cabinets refinished, front porch rebuilt, new fence, as well as bath vents and new floors.
I have never done floors and had told Wesley that, I referred him to a guy named John that have used 2 times before for laminate flooring. Wesley also had another flooring guy named Dan that he has worked with and used my referral in his decision and chose John to do the flooring.
Since I have never done flooring I advised John to discuss all the flooring details with Wesley. To my surprise after we started the job I found out the flooring hadn't been selected yet. Since I was already working on the unit I worked with Wesley to find the best deal on flooring that we could get. I spent several hours and trips to different locations looking and never asked Wesley for a dime for any of my time do so. The floor was not my part of the job but I wanted to help hom out since John and Wesley didn't pick out the flooring. I found a Deal with home depo for palet pricing and was able to save Wesley over$1000 for the flooring he liked, however we had to wait until july 15th until the flooring arrived.
In this time the house was gutted, the interior had 1 coat of paint put on it (12 gallons of paint total) the front porch/deck was rebuilt, 50 ft of cedar fence was rebuilt, the kitchen cabinets were refinished, all the lights were removed, purchased and installed, (with the exception of the chandelier and recessed lights in the kitchen which were purchased but not installed), all new decora, or coverplates for the outlets were installed, all new interior doors were purchased and installed, vanities, toilets and fans for both bathrooms were purchased, upstairs vanity and toilet were installed. New shut off valves for all water lines were purchased and installed. The exterior water spigot had cpvc with no support to it and it snapped, was also repaired and new line run.
John had come in prior to the flooring being delivered and had removed all of the existing carpet as well as doing some prep by removing staples ad some debris from the subfloor. On July 15 the flooring arrived and john began installing the flooring which put a pause on much of the other work.
Wesley came in to inspect the floors and found several issues, he discussed these with John and John began to fix them. John never fixed the floors completely and finally walked from the job leaving the floorsn95% finished.

At this point I was unable to continue much of my work because the floors were not finished. I called a contract5friend of mine to take a look at the floors but he didn't want anything to do with fixing John's floors. He stated he would have to oull all the floors and start from scratch. Wesley also spoke to one of his floor guys to no avail.
At this point I had no choice but do the floors myself. I finished the downstairsand stairway as well as put in the appliances and trim but at this point I had accrued $3700 inextra labor and expenses and could not continue without making adjustments to the estimate which Wesley did not want to do.

Wesley's Claim is true. He paid me $14k and I did walk from the job. However this statement lacks context and clarification.
I was not hired to do the floors or fix them. John was hired for the floors, he did a crap job and walked. I did not have the time or additional material cost to cover repairing the floors and I was losing money. I understand Wesley concern with John and I agree, i did refer John and did so because he had worked with me on two flooring jobs in the past with no complaints. I did not negotiate the floor costs I left that between Jon and Wesley. Because I referred him I tried to make it right but I could only go so far before I am losing money and it doesn't make sense. A total of 100 man hours were used in removing, the flooring, prepping thesubfloor and installing flooring. Which was not added to the invoice. I didnt charge wesley for any of the flooring install I even removed the initial cost of the flooring install ($2800) from the invoice so if he needed to have someone else come in he would have to pay me as well.

I have removed all work not completed on the original invoice crediting back over 6k to Wesley. The 14K he has paid has gone towards material and labor that has already been done or purchased which is either installed or waiting to be installed.
Wesley has made threats against me and John (guy who did the flooring) stating (you know what happens next Jason, people have died for less"
Wesley had told me that he used to run the streets in north portland and that he still has people he can talk to "to take care of things" I didn't take him to seriously until my landlor called me yesterday saying that he go a call from someone looking for me and that the guy said "I have been working with Jason and I owe him money". My landlord was concerned saying I should hide my vehicles because he didn't sound happy.

Lastly I am bonded and insured, if Wesley truly feels I am taking advantage if him I will happily go to arbitration. There is no need to make this personal or put up misleading posts.

My client wanted to have 2 rooms and closet painted as well as hanging picture moulding. While painting I pulled the carpet to get to the shore moulding and found a beautiful hardwood floor that just needed restoration. It all looks great and she is ecstatic over the transformation.
