Giant, fluffy, intoxicating, vibrant… to know marigolds is to love them.

They have a permanent spot at Still Life: on the grid, in our crop list, in our hearts 🧡

30 weeks of flowers in 30 seconds.

Boy did we grow A LOT of flowers this season. Technically it’s still going! But 30 weeks is what we hope and plan for, and we made it!

I picked out my 30 favorite pics from the last 30 weeks to do a little reminiscing.

Thank you if bought blooms from us this year - we are forever grateful 💛

Weekly Farm Chronicles: 2026-30

I can’t believe it’s already week 30!! I always plan on our fresh flower season lasting for about 30 weeks. Anything more than that is considered a bonus. And sure enough, it looks like we may get our first frost next week. The flowers will brown and fade if we do, and we’ll turn our full attention to planting for spring and putting the farm to sleep for winter.

1. I’ve been mixing my 3rd year seedling into different arrangements, some more muted or pastel, others bold and vibrant. I think it can cover a lot of styles and color needs. Plus who doesn’t love a pop of gold with coral undertones?

2-3. A 1st year seedling that is making the cut for another year of observation. I just love the way the petals fully reflex on the back of the bloom.

4. A 2nd year seedling that is also making the cut. It needs at least one more year of observation, but it’s shaping up nicely. I’ve appreciated all of the florist and designer feedback on this one - I hybridize with you in mind, so I’m glad you love it!

5-6. Maybe my last fresh flower run to Yours Truly for this season 😭

7-8. Taking aaaalllll of the photos. We’re already thinking ahead to our online dahlia sale, so we’re trying to snap beautiful pics of what we’ll be offering while they’re still blooming. Pictured here are ‘KA’s Mocha Katie’ and ‘Peaches n Cream.

9. A misty morning in the dahlia patch.

We’re downsizing our peony stock and hoping these plants can go to good homes! Truly one of the easiest perennial flowers to grow: roots should be planted only about an inch deep, no winter protection is needed because the cold initiates flowering, and they can live for decades with almost no maintenance. They’re a true heirloom plant!

Reach out via DM with how many you’re hoping for. A Venmo payment will secure your order.

All of our bouquet making is done in a little corner of my garage. I don’t have a fancy studio or nice workshop, so I make do with being surrounded by fertilizer and frost cloth. It’s a mess, but the flowers are beautiful.

We’re all set for Sunday at Lake Grove First Sunday Market! October 4, 11am - 2:30pm, Hallmark Drive, Lake Oswego. The weather is going to be perfect - spend it at an outdoor festival style market!

See you there!

Weekly Farm Chronicles: 2026-29

1-3. I have been harvesting my little heart out in preparation for the Lake Grove Sunday Market (10/4 from 11am-2:30pm in Lake Oswego). We’ll be bringing sooooo many flowers - dahlias (1 and 2), zinnias (3), marigolds, yarrow, gomphrena, eucalyptus, amaranth… it’s going to be quite the display. Stop by so you can bring the beauty home!

4. A small friend and protector in the zinnia row.

5-6. There are many perennial varieties that I planted this spring that were too small to harvest this year. Perennials are always a long game. But they did still bloom, and it was promising to think of what I’ll be able to cut in the future. Pic 5 is sedum and pic 6 is garden phlox.

7. Gomphrena ‘Audray White’ is a classic. It adds the best white pop to bouquets.

8-10. Sunsets in the fall at the farm are always a treat. We often see gorgeous hues of orange, purple and pink streaking the sky at the end of the day.

They cover every occasion and circumstance.

Make sure you get fresh flowers from your local grower before they’re gone for the season.

Raise your hand if I’ll see you there!

Weekly Farm Chronicles: 2026-28

1-2. We’ve been busy on the farm getting prepped for fall, which ultimately means getting prepped for spring. This week, Maddie worked hard to get a few of our rows weeded, amended and composted. I ran through them with the tiller to get everything mixed in, and then I hand broadcasted and raked in cover crop. We’re planting oats and red clover in hopes of fixing some nitrogen problems in our soil. These will probably live through the winter, and then we’ll terminate in the spring in time to plant late spring or summer blooming crops.

3-9. Besides flipping rows, the dahlias definitely dominate the conversation. I’m not mad about it. They’re blooming prolifically, they’re featured in every bouquet and bud vase… and they take up all of my time 😂 Between cutting and bunching stems, deadheading, tagging, and photographing, they have become almost a full time job on their own. Even so, I’m happy to grow them. How could I not be?! Just look at all of the beauty in those 7 slides!

If you’ve read this far, a quick reminder that we’ll be at Lake Grove’s First Sunday Market on October 4 from 11:00am - 2:30pm. Come say hi and buy some of the last flowers of the season from us. We’d love to see you there!

Put it in your calendar, add it to your fall festivities list… whatever you gotta do to make sure you don’t miss this!

Lake Oswego Farmer’s Market is hosting a fall festival themed market in Lake Grove and Still Life will be there!

We’re setting up a booth filled with dahlias, zinnias, marigolds, amaranth, gomphrena and more! Our classic and deluxe bouquets will be ready to buy, plus we’ll have a bloom bar of loose stems if you feel like playing with flowers and making your own arrangement.

This will be so fun and festive! Come round out the fresh flower season with us and support a small, local farm while you’re at it.

See you there!
