We are currently receiving a high volume of calls for immediate tree mitigation following the recent storm activity.

For the next 48 hours, we are only taking emergency calls where trees have impacted structures, are blocking access, or pose an active hazard. Our crews and subcontractors are fully deployed and working as fast and safely as possible.

We ask for your patience as we work through these situations. Every call is being prioritized based on safety, structural risk, and the potential for further damage.

Please be extremely cautious around downed trees and debris. Always assume power lines are live. Even indirect contact through branches or limbs can be dangerous or fatal. Stay clear and do not attempt to handle anything yourself.

If you are planning to file an insurance claim, do not assume it will automatically be covered. Every policy is different. What is covered depends on the cause of loss and the specific terms of your policy. Acting quickly to mitigate further damage is still your responsibility.

It is critical that you hire a company with an ISA Certified Arborist. Certified arborists have a professional duty and obligation to operate under OSHA and ANSI safety standards. These are not suggestions, they are industry standards designed to protect your property and everyone on site.

Companies without a certified arborist on staff are not held to that same level of accountability, and many simply do not follow proper ANSI or OSHA practices. In emergency situations, that difference matters. Safety, rigging, and ex*****on must be done correctly the first time.

Last night we visited some of the areas impacted by the recent tornado to answer any questions homeowners may have about their next steps.

Events like this can be incredibly overwhelming, and many families are still processing the damage to their homes and property. Our goal was simply to be available to provide guidance, answer questions, and help homeowners understand the recovery process.

We also want to share something important with others in our industry. We strongly recommend not going door to door selling services in disaster areas. Homeowners are already dealing with a lot emotionally and logistically, and they deserve time and space to assess the situation.

If you do choose to go door to door, do not offer services. Instead, offer homeowners the opportunity to ask questions regarding storm damage, safety concerns, and the proper steps to take when dealing with tree hazards and insurance claims. Simply providing helpful information can go a long way during a stressful time.

With the storm that came through last night, a lot of companies will be popping up claiming they “do tree work” from landscapers to weekend warriors with a chainsaw.

Please understand: when it comes to trees on structures, this is not the time to cut corners. You need a professional tree service, especially if you’re filing an insurance claim. Tree mitigation requires specialized knowledge, experience, and the right equipment. It’s not landscaping. It’s not yard work. It’s high risk, technical work.

Just last week in Kalamazoo County, a landscaping company added tree removal to their services, and it ended in a tragic, fatal accident. My heart goes out to the family and crew, but this is exactly why it’s critical to hire a real tree company when lives and property are on the line.
