Mortar Net Solutions founder Tom Sourlis developed the original MortarNet, a unique moisture management product characterized by its dovetail shape. It suspends mortar droppings above the weep vents in masonry cavity walls and provides pathways for moisture to quickly exit the walls. Today, Mortar Net provides a comprehensive family of solutions for managing moisture in CMU, brick, stone and stucco walls for both commercial and residential applications. Mortar Net staff also provides expert masonry construction advice and assistance to the construction and design communities.

We're going to take a moment to mention ourselves.

Not because we enjoy it, but because this scholarship exists because we believe the masonry industry needs to invest in its apprentices.

The Mortar Net Solutions Masonry Apprentice Scholarship is now in its seventh year, providing apprentices across the country with the tools they need to get their careers in masonry off to a strong start.

And while Mortar Net Solutions helps organize and provide the scholarship, this isn't a one-company effort; It's an industry-wide effort and that's what makes it special.

Grouting isn't exactly the cleanest job on the site.

That's one reason the Grout Grunt was created. Designed by a longtime mason, the tool is built to hand-deliver grout more quickly and with less mess and handling than traditional methods.

We're thankful to Grout Grunt for putting its support behind the Mortar Net Solutions Masonry Apprentice Scholarship.

Sometimes innovation starts with a mason thinking: “There's got to be a better way to do this.”

A strong masonry industry needs more than strong walls. It needs a skilled workforce behind them.

That's a big part of the mission of the Utah Masonry Council, which promotes quality masonry construction while supporting apprenticeship, technical training, safety, workmanship, and industry growth in Utah.

We're thankful for Utah Masonry Council's support of the Mortar Net Solutions Masonry Apprentice Scholarship because investing in apprentices is investing in the craft itself.

Behind every good masonry wall are a lot of things you don't see.

Anchors. Reinforcement. Flashing. Fasteners. Ties.

Wire-Bond has been manufacturing masonry construction products since 1975, including stone anchors, masonry flashing, ladder reinforcement, veneer anchoring systems, control and expansion joints, fasteners, and glass-block accessories.

We're grateful to Wire-Bond for supporting the Mortar Net Solutions Masonry Apprentice Scholarship.

The details may disappear behind the wall. The craftsmanship doesn't.

Masonry has a future because the Mason Contractors Association of America is helping build one.

That's been a major part of the mission of the MCAA since 1950. Mason Contractors Association of America - MCAA supports mason contractors through education, workforce development, safety resources, certification, advocacy, and programs designed to strengthen the masonry industry.

We're proud to have MCAA supporting the Mortar Net Solutions Masonry Apprentice Scholarship and we thank them for investing in the people who will keep the trade moving forward.

A wall can be an inch out of level before anyone notices.

But the mason notices. And that's why tools matter.

Kapro makes professional measuring and layout tools, including levels, digital levels, specialty masonry levels, and other tools used across the construction trades.

Kapro is a proud partner of the Mortar Net Solutions Masonry Apprentice Scholarship.

Thanks, Kapro, for being a partner of the Mortar Net Solutions Masonry Apprentice Scholarship and for helping the next generation get it right from the start.

Masonry gets dirty. Really dirty.

Fortunately, somebody has been thinking about what happens after the mortar, dust, stains, and construction mess show up. PROSOCO develops products for masonry and hard-surface care, restoration, building-envelope protection, air and water barriers, concrete flooring, and other construction applications.

We're grateful to Prosoco for supporting the Mortar Net Solutions Masonry Apprentice Scholarship and for helping apprentices start their careers with the tools and knowledge to do the job right.

There are a lot of ways to make a wall look good.

Glen-Gery has been making brick since 1890 and offers hundreds of brick colors and a wide range of styles, including molded, glazed, and paver products.

But beautiful brick doesn't get from the pallet to the wall by itself, that's why we're especially grateful to Glen-Gery for supporting the Mortar Net Solutions Masonry Apprentice Scholarship.

The future of brick depends on the people who know how to lay it.

Brick is more than a building material. It's an industry with a lot of knowledge behind it.

The Brick Industry Association represents manufacturers and distributors of clay brick and related products and has served as a national authority on clay brick construction since 1934. Its work includes technical resources, research and engineering support, education, and advocacy for the brick industry.

We're proud to have the Brick Industry Association supporting the Mortar Net Solutions Masonry Apprentice Scholarship because building the future of masonry means more than building walls. It means passing along the knowledge behind them.

Thank you, BIA, for helping support the people who will carry the craft forward.

A documentary about a well-designed wall assembly would be… kind of boring.

No plot twists. No drama. No heroic rescue. But that's exactly what you want because when a wall assembly is designed to manage moisture properly, “nothing happened” is a successful ending.
