A lot of lawns across Port Washington, Saukville, and Fredonia are growing uneven right now and that’s completely normal for early May in Wisconsin.

Cool nights are still slowing growth in shaded and wetter areas while sunny sections are starting to take off faster.

This time of year is important because cutting grass too short can stress the lawn before summer heat arrives.

A good rule right now:

✔ Avoid mowing soaking wet lawns
✔ Keep mower blades sharp
✔ Never remove more than 1/3 of the grass blade at once

Most Wisconsin lawns will really start accelerating over the next couple weeks as soil temperatures continue to rise.

Cold, hot, rainy ,and snowy. But the lawns still crispy. No missed visits, same day every week.

First week of May in Port Washington & Saukville, We will be starting all residential mowing routes.

In Port Washington we go from winds strong enough to clear everything out of the yard… except the dog 💩.

Then it’s 65° and people are walking the lakefront in shorts.

Then back to 35° and rain.

Now the weather guys are calling for record highs and lows in the same week, your buddy swears the Farmer’s Almanac says it’s gonna be a long summer, the kids are calling you “bro,” and your dog won’t stop dropping his ball at your feet.

We call this Seasonitis.

Happens every year… about 3 weeks before the first mow.

And honestly… I can’t wait. 🌱
