Snuck in an overnight solo sup trip in my Splinter 17. Amazing paddle through Mystery bay ... might be the best of the season. Paddled by a large group of Loons that were calling for the last hour of light.

It is a beautiful day! We are here at the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, come on over and visit us by the adventure stage or the Innovation tent! There are a lot of beautiful boats and compelling presentations.

4 Splinter SUPs in this year's Seventy48 race. Very wet but forecast is for a bit of a tail wind which should ease the pain.

This Splinter SUP is going for its third finish this year, with its third paddler, this time with at the helm. It was nice to give a spa day to this Gen 1 carbon beauty, built by We gave it a fairing, fresh coat of paint, and some racing stripes 🤙🏼

Many hours go into preparing for lamination. When it’s on, it’s all hands on deck, and once the resin is mixed there’s no room for pause or second-thoughts. It’s sticky, exciting, beautiful, and always a little terrifying. This one seems to have gone well.

We are going out on a limb here, what we feel is a necessary step for our future on our planet. We’re going to start building rocket ships! But really... This is our first stab at making a high performance touring SUP while drastically cutting the carbon footprint of doing so. This is us laying an amazing basalt and flax blend of cloth from over foam core made of post-consumer recycled plastic that will soon become a 16’ Splinter SUP. Yes, it’s a volcanic rock and linen-reinforced milk jug board… We know… Tooootally worthy to charge into something like on right? We’re thinking so. There’s more, and we’re stoked to share that when our social media guru (no one) tells us it’s time.

Sunrise from this morning’s Marrowstone Island circumnavigation was LIT. What a great crew to enjoy it with! 2022 is looking bright and loaded with beauty. Let’s do this.

Where have we been?!
Yeah it's been a little while away from the media. We've been busy: paddling, building, training, sanding, racing, guiding, dadding, sanding, coaching, surfing, farming, writing a blog post, oh and there was some sanding.

Along with incredible conditions and a fun crew, we had a first at yesterday’s awesome 3-hour group tour on Sequim Bay: an elephant seal sighting! See the big head in the background of the second picture? She was enormous, curious, and stately! A serious treat for all.
