Fine webbing between needles = spider mites 🕷️

These tiny but mighty insects suck the nutrients and chlorophyl from plant tissue, leading to stippling, yellowing, and eventual needle/leaf drop. If a plant has no needles/leaves, it can't provide nutrients for itself.

Spotted lanternflies have emerged!

Beginning with their emergence in May/June in their first instar, they continue to develop until they reach maturity in July/August. They can not fly until they have reached maturity, but they sure can hop!

Spotted lanternfly populations continue to grow here on Long Island where they face very few competitors and natural predators.
