Phase II begins in Allouez Bay!

Partnering with GEI Consultants, Inc., Audubon Great Lakes and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wren Works is on task to excavate approximately 2 acres of wetland soils to create channels and potholes that will be used onsite to create habitat mounds.

Seawall update:

For those living in Duluth, the seawall construction behind the DECC has been an anticipated project to see completed. While maintaining a safe distance away from the workers, I was able to grab a shot showing the progress. I was pleased to see they extended the boardwalk! For those who have walked this walk before, it was a hodgepodge of cement pads that didn't even connect. This is a huge improvement to our waterfront and this location will be where the cruise ships dock starting next season.

After almost 30 years of going back and forth from Duluth to Two Harbors to service the CN docks, last night was the calmest, smoothest and most brilliant ride we have ever had.

We left at 6:10 PM and arrived at Duluth entry at 11:00 PM. Was just in amazement on how clear and memorizing the mirror off the water was from miles out.

Wren Works recently had the opportunity to partner with GEI Consultants, Inc., Audubon Great Lakes, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for an interesting project at Allouez Bay on Wisconsin Point. We kicked off the first phase by mowing invasive cattails with the intent of reinforcing native vegetation and enhancing habitat conditions for marsh birds, fish and other wildlife.

The next phase later this fall will include excavating habitat mounds that will mimic muskrat dens!
