Just a few weeks away!
The Pontotoc County Master Gardeners invite you to learn from one of the leading voices in heirloom seed preservation. Ryan Schumacher of Baker Creek Seeds will be joining us at the Pontotoc Farmers Market on October 3!
SAVE THE DATE!

🌱 We’re excited to welcome Ryan Schumacher from Baker Creek Seeds — one of the nation’s leading voices in heirloom seed preservation — to the Pontotoc Farmers Market on October 3, sponsored by the Pontotoc County Master Gardeners!

🌿 Ryan will share insights on seed saving, heritage varieties, and how everyday gardeners can help protect our agricultural heritage.

âť“ What is seed sovereignty?
Seed sovereignty means that growers and communities should maintain full control over their seeds — the ability to select, save, and share them without restriction. It protects genetic diversity, safeguards heirloom varieties, and ensures the foundation of our food system remains in the hands of farmers, gardeners, and local stewards. 🌾

🌻 Join us for an inspiring morning celebrating local growers, resilient food systems, and the power of seeds.
✨ See you October 3!

🌟 We Saved the Best for Last! 🌟

The Pontotoc County Master Gardeners are incredibly proud to announce that Kerry Koehler has been named the 2025 Mississippi Master Gardener Association Statewide Master Gardener of the Year! 🎉🌿

Yep, the Master Gardener of the Year lives right here in Pontotoc! Our local celebrity!

Kerry embodies everything the Master Gardener program stands for—leadership, service, education, and an unwavering commitment to community. In just a few short years, she has transformed projects, strengthened partnerships, elevated our plant sale to new heights, expanded educational outreach, and played a key role in establishing and optimizing the Community Garden high tunnel—now an impactful teaching and growing space dedicated to providing produce to those in need.

Her dependability, creativity, and passion for helping others learn have made her a cornerstone of our organization and a shining example across the state.

Please join us in celebrating Kerry for this well‑deserved honor! 💚🌱
