Executed a basal area prism cruise deep in the Southern Adirondacks today. Girdling is a poor way to TSI timber. Results from the previous forester that set up a high grade harvest in this stand in 2006. They should have left it alone, they made the situation worse and depeleted the value of the stand 🌲🍂

Watch the video. Building custom maps tonight in preparation for a prism cruise. This will tell us the basal area and i will convert that data into timber volumes within 10% accuracy. After a decision is made by the owners, i can then paint the timber based on a prescription I prescribe and measure with biltmore stick if desired depending on weather we are doing a lump-sum bid or a scale sale. Crazy Experience. I was being hunted and stalked by an Adirondack Black Bear Yesturday. This was a predatory boar. Rare encounter. What i saw that i couldnt get on film confirmed it. He was crouched like a panther, nose down tracking me and moving fast. I pulled phone out and yelled quick and he stopped for a few seconds but it was definately hunting me. I had similar experience in alaska with a polar bear. Very dangerous boar. It came back on my way thru and i fired warning shots. Ill see him again during bear season. Ive hunted and trapped my whole life from alaska to the carolinas to the ADX and this was not curiousity. I was being hunted. I wish i could have filmed it barreling in, hunched over, nose to the ground. Weird feeling being prey. 30 yards is to close 🍁🌲

We have very strong softwood markets and softwood orders to fill ASAP. As some might remeber during covid years, I was planning on changeing my old buisness name to White Pine Forestry. I specialized in softwood logging and management for quite a few years and had experience in spruce/cedar harvesting in South East Alaska before getting into the hardwood pulp buisness heavy.
