We are approaching fall, which is a great time to help prepare your lawn for winter. Secondary water will be turned off by mid-October at the latest. If you start reducing overall irrigation, your grass roots will grow a little deeper, looking for that water, which will strengthen the lawn and prepare it for a healthy lawn over winter. Your lawn will be in great shape to make it through October with no irrigation if you start now (based on our weather, of course).

Feather reed grass is an ornamental grass that grows erect, in a narrow clump 2-3 feet tall and less than 2 feet wide. The tall flower heads eventually turn a tan color. Flower stems 5-6 feet tall appear in early summer. These lovely plants do not spread, are low maintenance, and drought tolerant. A great accent to your water-wise landscape!
