COMANCO’s HR team recently partnered with On-Site Health & Safety to bring annual wellness physicals directly to our field employees. By meeting our team where they work, we made it easier for employees to complete an important wellness requirement without leaving the jobsite.

By the end of the visit, 20 employees had completed their annual physicals!

The first important decision a heavy equipment operator makes happens before the machine ever moves.

COMANCO employees Carlos Lopez Nieto, Miguel Ruiz, Edwin Hamid Velez Lopez, Kevin Javier Palacios Orochena, and Pastor A. Rodriguez Hernandez recently completed two days of heavy equipment training at Ring Power Cat in Riverview, Florida.

The program combined classroom instruction, simulator exercises, equipment inspections, and hands-on field evaluations. Participants even had to identify intentionally placed equipment deficiencies before beginning the operating portion.

Thank you to instructors Blake Conwell and Jose Valdes for creating an engaging learning experience. We especially appreciate Jose providing Spanish translation throughout the training so every participant could fully understand the instruction and ask questions.

We are proud of Carlos, Miguel, Edwin, Kevin, and Pastor for continuing to sharpen their skills and strengthen safe operating practices.

COMANCO recently recognized this crew for their hard work and commitment to safety as they completed the exposed geomembrane cap phase of the New River Landfill project in Raiford, Florida.

During this phase, the crew installed nine acres of 60-mil HDPE liner, 1,400 LF of toe drain, and 5,000 LF of HDPE gas system piping. Completing this specialized scope required careful coordination, quality workmanship, and a shared commitment to safety.

COMANCO President Mark Topp and Vice President of Construction Thomas Raab joined the crew for a safety lunch celebrating the milestone. Perry Kent, Executive Director of the New River Solid Waste Association, and Tobin McKnight, Chief Engineer at Jones Edmunds & Associates, Inc., also attended. Another pond liner project is in the books! 👏

COMANCO recently completed approximately 40,000 SF, or approximately 40 full-sized tennis courts, of 60-mil HDPE textured liner, along with batten bar and 60 ballast tubes.

One of the unique challenges on this project was working around a pump house that occupied roughly a quarter of the pond, requiring extra attention to detail throughout the installation.

Led by Superintendent Martin Calderon, the crew kept safety and teamwork at the forefront and completed the project safely and efficiently.

The finished pond will support Bonita Springs Utilities' water management efforts by containing water that does not meet established quality standards.

Precision in the field starts with the right tools. On a recent North Florida geomembrane project, COMANCO's crew completed more than 4,600 linear feet of ballast trench welding, a length equivalent to about 10 Washington Monuments stacked end-to-end. Meanwhile, QC Technician Hector Yanes captured every weld in real time using GeoCaab ensuring enhanced traceability, project visibility, and quality assurance from start to finish.

By combining experienced field crews with innovative digital quality management, COMANCO continues to raise the standard for geomembrane installation and environmental containment.

🎉COMANCO is excited to announce the award of a major landfill closure project in West Palm Beach, Florida.

This comprehensive project includes construction of the final cover system, installation of leachate and landfill gas collection systems, stormwater management improvements, and site restoration. One of the most impactful aspects of the project is the landfill gas collection system, which supports beneficial reuse by capturing and transporting landfill gas to be treated and used as a primary fuel source for the site's Biosolids Processing Facility.

Projects like this demonstrate how modern landfill engineering goes beyond environmental protection—creating sustainable solutions that recover valuable resources while supporting long-term performance.
