Today we’re giving a big shoutout to two absolute OGs of Green Valley Landscaping, Inc. — two guys who have been part of the backbone of this company for 30+ years.

First, a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to John Westawski 🎉
Three decades with Green Valley, still showing up, still getting it done… and somehow still believing this is finally gonna be the year for the Chicago Bears 😂🐻⬇️
John, we appreciate your loyalty, hard work, and the laughs over all these years. Hope your day is a great one, buddy!

And sending lots of love and prayers to another Green Valley original,Mark Hopiak, as he recovers from a recent cardiac procedure. ❤️
Mark has been one of the toughest guys around here for over 30 years… but also one of the guys with the biggest hearts. And honestly, after surviving decades as a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan, this recovery should be a walk in the park 😆🏈

All kidding aside, Mark, we’re all pulling for you and can’t wait to see you back at it soon.

Guys like John and Mark aren’t just employees… they’re family, history, and a huge part of what Green Valley has become over the years.

Position: Nursery Yard Manager / Crew Member
Company: Green Valley Landscaping, Inc.
Location: Plains, PA

Green Valley Landscaping is seeking a reliable, hardworking individual to oversee and maintain our nursery yard operations. This full time position plays a key role in ensuring our plant material is properly cared for, organized, and ready for use in our landscaping projects.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily operations of the nursery yard
• Watering, fertilizing, and general care of trees, shrubs, and plant material
• Organizing incoming deliveries and maintaining an orderly yard
• Pulling and staging plant material for upcoming jobs
• Loading/unloading trucks and assisting crews as needed
• Picking up plant material from local and regional growers/suppliers
• Monitoring plant health and reporting any issues
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment

Qualifications:
• Experience working in a nursery, landscaping, or related field preferred but will train the right individual.
• Knowledge of plant material and basic horticulture is a plus
• Ability to operate equipment (skid steer, forklift, etc.) is a bonus
• Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus, but not required)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be dependable and take pride in your work

Most people see snow removal as trucks showing up when it snows. What they don’t see is everything behind the scenes.

This December brought a stretch of frequent, smaller snow events that quietly depleted salt supplies across the East Coast. Now, with a larger storm approaching, salt and ice melt have become commodities—limited supply, overwhelming demand. That’s why you’re seeing miles of tri-axle trucks lined up, waiting for material that simply isn’t readily available.

Snow operations run on long hours, cold temperatures, early mornings, late nights, logistics, planning, and constant adaptation to conditions most people never think about. Behind it all are dedicated crews—out in the elements, working through the night, responding when most are sleeping, and doing whatever it takes to keep roads safe and walks/access ways clear.

This is what it takes to keep roads passable and communities moving.
