One of the unexpected delights Rev. Harris had at today’s Union County Nonprofit Impact Breakfast was to meet and visit with Kathy Patterson, President of Patterson Pools, the company that has built our new pool at Camp Christian! She indicated her company was excited and pleased to be working with the Christian Church In Ohio once again!

One of the things that makes Patterson Pools truly unique is that we've remained family owned through three generations.

Each generation has built upon the work of the one before it, not by changing the company's foundation, but by strengthening it.

Jim Patterson founded Patterson Pools in 1946, combining his passion for aquatics with a spirit of innovation that helped shape the swimming pool industry.

Phil Patterson continued that legacy, leading the company for nearly four decades while expanding Patterson Pools' reach, founding Passwall Corporation, and later establishing Aquatics Consultants Inc. to support architects and engineers with aquatic design.

Today, Tim Patterson and Kathy Patterson continue that tradition as the third generation of family leadership. Both began working at Patterson Pools decades ago, bringing years of experience and a deep understanding of the commercial aquatics industry to their roles today.

Tim joined Patterson Pools in 1984. He has contributed to the industry through innovation and safety, including developing and patenting drain covers designed to comply with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. He has also served on the Ohio Department of Health Rules Committee, helping review and rewrite Ohio's pool regulations. Today, Tim oversees project bids, system design, and mechanical equipment applications.

Kathy joined Patterson Pools in 1988 and has played an integral role in the company's day-to-day operations. Today, she oversees office management and sales for deck, diving, safety, and maintenance equipment.

Although the company has grown and the industry has evolved, our core values have remained the same:

Every company has a beginning. Ours starts with James (Jim) Patterson.

Before founding Patterson Pools in 1946, Jim built an extraordinary career in competitive diving. After learning to dive from the fishing piers of Santa Cruz, California, his talent eventually brought him to The Ohio State University, where he became the Buckeyes' first Big Ten and NCAA diving champion and earned six All-American honors.

Following graduation, Jim continued his career as a professional diver before turning his passion for aquatics into something new: Patterson Pools.

For the next 30 years, Jim wasn't just building swimming pools—he was helping shape the industry itself. His work led to 17 patents in swimming pool design, and he pioneered the use of stainless-steel swimming pools, innovations that continue to influence aquatic facilities today.

What began with one man's passion for excellence became the foundation of Patterson Pools.

Nearly 80 years later, the values Jim built this company on—quality, innovation, and integrity—continue to guide every project we undertake.

This milestone wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of our employees, the trust of our clients, the support of our partners, and the many communities we've had the honor to serve.
