Installing an EV charger is more than just hanging the unit on the wall.

Before installation, there are several important things that need to be reviewed:
- Panel capacity: does the existing electrical service have enough available capacity for the added load?

- Circuit sizing: the charger needs the correct breaker, wire size, and installation method based on the equipment being installed.

- Wire path: where will the wiring run? Sometimes it is a simple garage installation, and other times it may require conduit, trenching, or coordination around finished areas.

- Permits and inspections: EV chargers are a significant electrical load and should be installed properly, permitted when required, and inspected by the local authority.

- Charger location: the best location is not always the closest wall. It should account for parking layout, cord reach, protection from damage, and future use.

A properly installed EV charger should be safe, reliable, and planned around the home’s existing electrical system — not just the charger itself.

Always On Electric can help review your panel, plan the installation, and install your EV charger the right way.

Adding outside outlets is one of those small upgrades that makes a big difference around your home.

Whether you’re plugging in holiday lights, power tools, a grill, patio lighting, a pool pump, or just want easier access to power outside, having properly installed exterior outlets makes outdoor spaces more convenient and safer.

A few important things to keep in mind:
- Outdoor outlets should be GFCI protected
-They need weather-resistant covers
-Wiring should be installed properly for outdoor conditions
-Location matters so the outlet is useful without creating a hazard

If you’re tired of running extension cords through windows, doors, or across the yard, adding exterior outlets may be a simple upgrade worth considering.Always On Electric can help you add safe, clean, and properly protected power where you need it.

Sometimes adding more circuits to your home does not mean you need a larger electrical service.

In many cases, the main issue is simply that your current panel is out of space. Adding a subpanel can give you the extra room needed for future circuits, renovations, garage power, EV chargers, HVAC equipment, workshops, or outdoor projects.

A subpanel also does not always need to be installed directly next to your existing panel. Depending on your home’s layout and electrical needs, it may make more sense to place it in the garage, across the basement, or closer to the area where the new circuits will be used.

The important part is making sure the existing service has enough capacity, the new panel is sized correctly, and everything is installed safely and neatly.

If your panel is full but your home still has electrical projects coming up, Always On Electric can help you figure out whether a subpanel is the right solution.

This panel upgrade came with a pretty cool piece of local history.

The original electrical panel was installed in the 1950s, making it more than 70 years old. Even more interesting, the home was once the place where the town’s telephones were hosted, and people would actually come to the house to make phone calls.

A lot has changed since then, and the electrical system was ready for an upgrade.

A clean panel is more than just good-looking work. Proper labeling, neat wiring, and safe terminations make future service easier, safer, and more reliable.

Projects like this are a good reminder that electrical work is not just about replacing equipment. It is also about respecting the history of a building while bringing it up to meet today’s needs.
