Meet Elijah, a Help Desk Intern at Cianbro and a Computer Engineering sophomore at the University of Maine.

Elijah thrives on solving problems. It’ what drew him to the IT field and continues to fuel his internship experience. Each day on the IT Help Desk brings new challenges, and he enjoys digging into every ticket as a unique puzzle to solve.

“Each ticket comes with its own puzzle and challenge that makes me want to figure out how to solve it,” said Elijah.

During his time with Cianbro, Elijah has strengthened his critical thinking skills while gaining exposure to new software and a variety of IT processes. He has also experienced Cianbro’s strong family-oriented culture firsthand where a focus on safety, collaboration, and looking out for one another creates an environment that supports personal and professional growth.

One standout experience? Supporting the Rickers Wharf remodel project. Rickers Wharf is Cianbro’s operational base in Portland, Maine. We just completed new office spaces where Elijah helped set others up for technical success in their new environment.

When he’s not solving IT challenges, Elijah is a talented musician playing 20+ instruments. He also enjoys roller skating, a hobby he’s pursued for over a decade.

His advice to future interns: “Say yes to everything.”

We’re proud to have Elijah on the team and excited to see how his passion for problem-solving shapes his future in engineering.

Cianbro was proud to support the next generation of skilled trades professionals on June 4 at the 2026 SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia!

As part of National Center for Construction Education and Research’s carpentry competition at the Georgia World Congress Center, Cianbro Civic/Concrete Instructor Eric Lane helped bring the event to life. Eric coordinated layout, assisted with staging materials and tools, and served as one of 16 judges evaluating students.

“It’s always amazing to watch the students demonstrate their talent and skills,” said Eric. “Seeing their dedication firsthand reinforces how important it is for companies like Cianbro to invest in the future of the trades.”

We were also excited to have team members Kaleb Roy and Kaelie Blanchet on site connecting with students and sharing opportunities at Cianbro.

Events like SkillsUSA highlight the incredible potential of tomorrow’s workforce and Cianbro remains committed to developing and supporting team members today and into the future.

You don’t stay somewhere for 25+ years by accident.

You stay because of the people, the opportunities, and the pride in the work.

Kerry Swallow has worked on multiple industrial projects in his 26 years. His quiet demeanor and willingness to do whatever is needed is a testament to his character. His craftmanship across multiple trades is second to none — there truly is no task he cannot perform at a high level. In recent years he has taken on a leadership role, mentoring younger team members and passing on his trade knowledge.

25+ years. That’s genuine dedication. Thank you, Kerry!

Meet Brooke Dube, a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Intern at Cianbro and a sophomore at Husson University studying Health Science/Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Inspired by her younger brother’s experience with physical therapy, Brooke knew early on she wanted to help others in the same impactful way. This summer, she’s working with our HSE team at Corporate in Pittsfield supporting policy development, contributing to safety education programs, and visiting jobsites to see how safety practices come to life in the field. It reinforces Cianbro’s core value of safety and its commitment to ensuring every team member goes home better than they arrived.

From learning how to prevent workplace incidents to understanding the role of physical therapy on jobsites, Brooke is gaining hands-on experience that’s shaping her future career goals.

“You don’t just come here to work. You build connections, learn, and feel like part of a family.”

We’re happy to have Brooke on the team and excited to see where her passion for helping others takes her!

Developing the next generation of leaders—one experience at a time.

Meet Alex Duczynski, Project Superintendent at A/Z Corporation, a Cianbro company, currently leading healthcare building projects at Yale New Haven Health.

With more than 10 years at the company, Alex is now part of the Cianbro Leadership Initiative (CLI). This program is designed to equip high-performing team members with the tools to lead, grow, and strengthen our culture through the team concept.

For Alex, being selected for CLI is more than professional development—it’s recognition.

“It means everything to me… to know the company sees that potential and wants to see you succeed is one of the best feelings you can get.”

Through CLI, Alex is sharpening skills that matter most in today’s ever-changing construction environment like leading through change, listening first, and creating consistency for his team.

“Consistency sets the tone for me as a leader… it’s something I want to bring to my job site every day.”

Whether it’s starting each day with a positive mindset or building stronger relationships through better communication, Alex is already putting his learning into action.

We’re proud to support leaders like Alex who are helping to shape the future of our company.

25+ years. Think about that.

That’s not just time, it’s dedication, growth, and a career built with purpose.

Francisco “Paco” Salazar is an incredibly skilled craftsman, honing his skill as a carpenter during his 26 years with Cianbro. He consistently maintains a positive attitude and always has a smile on his face. A man of few words, he lets his work speak for itself and is known to outpace a mixing machine. He has been a consistent force in the Mid-Atlantic region.

At Cianbro, 25+ years is more than a milestone, it’s proof of what’s possible. Thank you, Francisco!

Meet Joanna Keaton, a Project Engineer supporting the infrastructure market, who is building her future as a leader through the Cianbro Institute’s Superintendent Development Program.

With three years at Cianbro and currently working on the WALK Bridge project in Norwalk, Connecticut, Joanna joined the program with a clear goal: to grow into a superintendent role and take on the challenge of leading in the field.

“The Superintendent Development Program was a great reminder that being an effective leader is more about the mindset than it is the technical skills,” Joanna shared.

Throughout the program so far, Joanna has found the greatest value in developing leadership and communication skills, plus strengthening her understanding of work planning from a superintendent’s perspective. She also emphasized the importance of connection learning from team members across different markets and building a network she can rely on throughout her career.

For Joanna, leadership starts with people. She believes strong communication, empathy, and understanding individual needs are key to supporting teams and driving success in the field.

When she’s not on the job, Joanna enjoys reading, gaming, and chasing adrenaline on roller coasters.

We’re proud to support team members like Joanna as they grow, lead, and help build a stronger future for Cianbro.
