Very satisfying machinery is only part of what Casey and Tyler are finding at IWF Atlanta.

They’re exploring new materials, hardware, and equipment, connecting with industry friends, and learning about ideas that could improve precision, consistency, efficiency, and durability on future projects.

The goal is simple: understand what’s possible, bring the right ideas home, and use them to build better.

And yes, Casey could probably watch this machine all day.

Rain had other plans for the CREDA Pgh Golf Outing at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. But this is Pittsburgh, so we adjusted and the day went on anyway. Good company made up for the weather. Proud to serve as Breakfast Sponsor and spend the day with the developers, brokers, and GCs who keep this region building.

Soggy greens, great company, a day worth showing up for.

Thanks to CREDA Pittsburgh for hosting, and to this year's fellow sponsors.

When Karl, one of our journeyman carpenters, and his family visited the Carnegie Museum of Art, they came across a familiar piece: a bench he built for the 59th Carnegie International Exhibition.

His daughter Maggie, age 3, put it to immediate use as a slide.

A fun moment for Karl to see his work in place, and for Maggie to experience it in her own way.

There’s a lot that happens before architectural millwork reaches the finished space.

Shop drawings. 3D modeling. Fabrication. Coordination. Installation.

This multifamily amenity project is a great example of the process behind the finished product.

Have an upcoming project with a complex millwork package? We’d love to be part of the conversation.

Pittsburgh Restaurant Week is one of our favorite reminders that hospitality is about more than the meal. It is the people, the atmosphere, and the spaces that make you want to stay a little longer.

We are grateful to work alongside Pittsburgh’s architects, contractors, and hospitality teams, contributing architectural millwork to places that become part of the city’s dining experience.

What reservation are you most excited about this week?

Healthcare millwork needs added protection in areas exposed to repeated impact. Multifamily amenity spaces require hardware and construction suited to constant use. Hospitality environments introduce moisture, spills, heat, and frequent cleaning.

These demands influence the details behind the finished surface, including substrates, edgebanding, hardware, materials, finishes, and construction methods.

Working alongside architects and contractors, Schlaegle Design Build helps translate the design intent into architectural millwork built for the realities of the finished environment.

It's all part of The Schlaegle Standard.

Say hello to Blake Hearty, SDBA's new Director of Operations.

We asked him a few questions to break the ice:

Why SDBA?
"The opportunity to make meaningful impact on a growing company, and to support a team of skilled craftspeople who create products regular people interact with every day."

What's first on the list?
"You can't get where you want to go without first knowing where you are. So first up: streamlining our production plan, tracking the right metrics, and clearing obstacles so the team can do its best work."

One thing people wouldn't guess about you?
"Most people would not know it to look at me, but I am a bit of a die-hard Taylor Swift fan and may or may not own her entire discography on vinyl. For the Eras Tour, I traveled solo to the UK—spending a few days in London before heading to Scotland for the concert. Met so many awesome people along the way and had a great time!"

Welcome to the team, Blake. Glad you're in your SDBA Era! 🫶

SDBA leaders Casey Schlaegle and Ali Schlaegle spent an afternoon at the Getty in Los Angeles with their family this week.

Travertine walls, curved terraces, gardens tucked into the hillside. It’s an architectural marvel that's hard to visit and not study, even off the clock.
