Desmone We design buildings and spaces that allow people to thrive– physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Our firm’s greatest strength is our dedication to service.

Desmone was founded in 1958 when Luke Desmone joined forces with his uncle, John Desmone. From day one, our founders believed in the art of design and its ability to create positive change in the world. We believe our role is to design for our clients’ needs — not our own. Successful projects, in our minds, use limited resources wisely and create places that people will embrace and make their own.

We listen intently to the needs and desires of our clients and help them to develop a project’s vision. Our extensive knowledge and skills allow us to transform that vision into a reality and empower the end-users to thrive – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Because we realize the importance of investing in the wellness of others, we make it our first priority to invest in the wellness of our team members. So much so that we designed our own office expansion to receive WELL Gold Certification, making it one of less than 100 private offices nationwide recognized for world-class health and wellness. Health and wellness are the future of design and we are the proven experts who will design your project to thrive.

Armada’s headquarters relocation marked more than a new address. It represented a shift toward a more collaborative workplace.

Through a comprehensive visioning process and strong team alignment, Desmone helped create a flexible environment that supports diverse work styles and encourages connection. From open workspaces to unique branded elements like a custom shipping container collaboration hub, the design reflects Armada’s identity and growth.

This project is a clear example of collaboration in action, bringing together client, designers, and partners to deliver a cohesive, high-performing workplace.

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of hosting the latest Women+ in Design of Pittsburgh event at Desmone!

Our own Monica Blasko, AIA, NCIDQ shared a heartfelt Pecha Kucha presentation, reflecting on lessons in architecture, design, and life passed down from her grandmother, Dolly!

The evening was full of personal stories, inspiration, and meaningful connections with Pittsburgh’s creative community.

We’re proud to support Women+ in Design and their mission to empower people of all genders in design and design-adjacent fields.

Desmone was proud to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Valley Brook Country Club's new addition, thoughtfully designed to enhance and expand the member experience.

The 20,000 square foot addition introduces a new men’s locker room with 750 lockers, complemented by lounge spaces, saunas, and a patio overlooking the golf course and Chartiers Creek. The space also connects directly to the men’s grill, which includes areas for games and gathering.

The level above extends the club’s amenities with a fitness center, juice bar, massage and physical therapy rooms, and a business center.

Together, these additions support the evolving needs of the membership while creating a strong foundation for the club’s future.

Thank you to our consultant partners for their collaboration, insight, and shared commitment throughout the design and construction process, helping bring this vision to life.

May is Historic Preservation Month, a time to celebrate the buildings, places, and stories that help define our communities.

At Desmone, we believe preservation is not just about protecting the past. It is about giving historic buildings a meaningful future. Without thoughtful reinvestment and creative reimagining, many architecturally significant buildings risk being underutilized or lost entirely.

Through this approach called adaptive reuse, we help preserve these community assets while retooling them for the needs of the 21st century. This month, we are celebrating some of our recent historic adaptive reuse projects that transform existing buildings into active spaces for education, work, housing, innovation, and community life.

Because when historic buildings are used to their full potential, communities thrive.

Please join us in welcoming our summer interns to Desmone.

Aaron Sedlak joins our Pittsburgh office from Penn State, where he’s pursuing his Bachelor of Architecture. Aaron’s passion for design started early in elementary school drawing and reimagining house designs. When he’s not designing, you’ll find him playing the cello or learning the ropes on the golf course.

Victoria Metz joins our Morgantown office and will begin her graduate studies at Fairmont State University this August. She was drawn to architecture through her love of creating spaces that are both practical and experiential, with a strong appreciation for the balance of logic and creativity. In her free time, Victoria channels that creativity into photography and painting.

We are thrilled to have Aaron and Victoria on the team!

Celebrating 10 years in Morgantown!

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey, we couldn’t have done it without you.

Here’s to what’s next.

Exciting to see progress underway in Cleveland’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood. Fencing is now up at the Memphis & Pearl site, marking the start of Phase 1 Brownfield Demolition & Remediation.

At Desmone, we’re proud to be leading this transformative mixed-use development centered around St. Luke’s Church and Pearl Road United Methodist Church. The project will bring new life to the site by introducing housing, retail, and public space, while thoughtfully reimagining elements of these historic structures for future use.

Looking forward to seeing this next chapter take shape and contribute to the ongoing revitalization of the corridor.

Reeling in a great Lunch & Learn!

Desmone team members, Eli and Jared, led an engaging fly fishing session with hands-on activities, from tying flies to practicing casting.

The team also learned about trout and insect life cycles, gaining a deeper appreciation for choosing the right bait. Gear demos added another layer, offering a closer look at the equipment.

Thanks to everyone who made it such a fun and interactive session!

A groundbreaking moment for Pittsburgh history.

Our Desmone project team was honored to attend the groundbreaking for the Heinz History Center expansion, a bold investment in education, access, and community.

Designed as a 92,000 SF expansion along Penn Avenue, the project will create new galleries, classrooms, event spaces, and a state-of-the-art theater. These spaces will support everything from school programs to major exhibitions, including new areas dedicated to expand the Museum of African American History and the stories that define our region.

Proud to help shape a future where history is more accessible, engaging, and inclusive for everyone.
