Earth and Mist 30x30x1.5

Inspired by a popular, but small, 10” circular painting (Moonlight Magic), I set out to make a broader sweeping landscape with a similar teal and earth toned palette, complete with night sky, subtle stars and full moon. This moon is adorned with a pieces of clear quartz, their clarity balancing out the earthy tones below of tiger’s eye and black tourmaline chips. Their quite unfinished look works perfectly to suggest rocks and bark and twigs by the river!
Crystals through the water create additional blue/green tone variation in the river — Amazonite (turquoise color, supports peace and stress reduction), lapis (deeper blue, supports clear communication and intuition), and green aventurine (associated with healing) - placed to direct the current toward us.

Hidden Realms 36x48

This expansive 3x4 foot piece is emotive and mysterious, richly layered with blues and greens, accented by silver, white and yellowy beige. Dynamic like the sea and sky before a storm. It reminds us to consider what lies beneath the surface situations and relationships. To me, it also speaks to allowing yourself the space to sink into and truly feel intense emotion, to let tears flow freely as needed, so that we may work through the murky water. Put another way, the most effective way to survive a storm is to flow with the current (rather than resist it) and float as best we can until the calm (or a flotation device!) arrives.

Tiny Joy Tip #1: Wear the face paint. 👑

A big part of my work is helping women (and really, all adults) make space for little shifts that bring more joy and lightness into our often-heavy lives.

You may not know that in my “spare time,” I do professional face painting at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium . It’s quite joyful, but we don’t get nearly enough adults partaking in the fun.

So I’m officially recommending more face paint for grown women! It’s fun. It’s regal.

Queen, fairy, tiger, flower child? So many possibilities.

Why leave it all to the kiddos? Maybe Halloween will draw you out of your shell, ladies (and gentlemen). If so, you better share pics! 🎃
