Explaining the Main Water and Fire System in a 500,000 Sq Ft Warehouse 😅

Beau previously mentioned in another video this Amazon warehouse is completely electric, we didn’t install any of the fire plumbing lines however the system is running on 480-volt electric ⚡️

The incoming domestic service has a bypass pressure reducing valve, and the bypass allows maintenance without losing water. We also cover future outlets and the four-inch main that feeds the entire 500,000 square foot warehouse, noting that high street pressure eliminated the need for a booster pump. 💪🏼

Office Bathroom Rough Phase Amazon Warehouse: Waiting for Tile and Finish Work 🚽🔧

Beau is in the office area showing the entrance to two bathroom groups. We’re still in the rough phase, waiting for tile walls and finishes before we can install toilets and sinks. Reid is currently working on the water fountain. Many times we are ahead of schedule during projects at CPH, finishing before other trades, not a problem in our eyes.🙂‍↔️

Color-Coded Columns: Blue Marks Indicate Water Stations 💧🥤 Ever notice colors on columns? 👀

Beau gives us a tour towards the north side of the Amazon warehouse near the employee offices and bathrooms, pointing out a column.

Throughout the building, columns are color-coordinated. A blue paint mark on a column means we’ve brought a water line down, and there will be a water drinking station at any column with a blue mark.

Amazon Site Goes Fully Electric: Eliminating Gas-Powered Equipment

Beau explains to us how the Amazon site has transitioned to all-electric equipment, removing all gas-powered units including rooftop units, water heaters, and instantaneous water heaters.

On the other side of the building, our plumbing setup has a sink discharge line and entire bathroom group are piped into a pit that discharges down the warehouse.

Overcoming Granite Vein: Installing an Ejector Pit at Amazon Freezer Warehouse 🧊

Beau is standing outside the Amazon freezer box, a 3,500 square foot freezer for food and frozen items.

The plumbing setup is with stainless steel hub drains for refrigeration condensate.

On the other side of the building, we installed another ejector pit for a bathroom and break room because a granite vein prevented us from running a gravity line 1,000 feet and 15 feet deep. This change saved Amazon time and money.

The two-inch discharge turns into four-inch PVC to connect to the gravity system, and why a pump pit was needed due to lack of sewer and elevation in the building.

Chiller Floor Drain Pump Pit Overview 🔧

Back at the Amazon fulfillment center, Beau walks through a row of chillers with floor sinks draining into a pump pit. The pit is 10 feet deep and 4 feet wide, containing two 5-horsepower pumps.

All 82 floor drains discharge into this pit, which then pumps to the sanitary gravity system when the water level rises. 💪🏼
