As Forrest Gump says, we have seen all types of rain.. even freezing rain! Thankfully, the temperature is too high today, but in a few short weeks, this rain could look a little different.

Nonetheless, we are getting our horses saddled up and ready to provide the best service to our customers this winter!

🚜 Sometimes Getting It Right Means Going Back and Doing It Better!

We wanted to share a recent driveway restoration project in Livonia, NY, because we believe great customer service isn't just about the projects that go perfectly. It's also about how you handle the ones that don't.

Last week, our team completed a stone driveway restoration using our CAT track loader and Harley Rake. While the driveway surface was improved, our customer wasn't completely satisfied with the finished result, particularly along the edges of the driveway.

And you know what? They had a valid concern.

Rather than dismissing their feedback, we met with the customer, listened to their concerns, and returned yesterday to make it right.

This time, our crew went a step further by cutting in and redefining the driveway edges, restoring the original stone driveway footprint and creating a much cleaner, more finished appearance.

👏 The result? A better-looking driveway, a higher standard for our team, and a valuable lesson that we're putting into practice moving forward.

We're now incorporating driveway edging and outlining into our Harley Rake restoration process because we recognized an opportunity to improve the service we provide.

As a business owner, it's not always easy to admit when your team doesn't get something quite right the first time. But at Genesee Valley Landscape, we believe accountability, communication, and standing behind our work are what separate good contractors from great ones.

Our goal isn't to pretend we're perfect. It's to continuously improve, take care of our customers, and deliver results we're proud to put our name on.

A big thank you to our customer for the honest feedback and to our crew for stepping up and getting the job done right! 💪

🌿🏡 Another Beautiful Landscape Transformation in Mount Morris, NY!

Our landscape maintenance and enhancement team recently wrapped up this beautiful foundation planting project for a customer in Mount Morris, giving their home a fresh, clean, and welcoming appearance!

This project included the installation of new premium topsoil, nutrient-rich compost, fresh black mulch, and a carefully selected variety of shrubs, evergreens, ornamental grasses, and perennials designed to provide color, texture, and year-round interest.

From flowering hydrangeas, lilacs, and spireas to boxwoods, dwarf evergreens, and a beautiful Japanese maple, every planting was selected to complement the home while creating a landscape that will continue to mature and improve with each passing season. 🌸🌳

A great example of how a thoughtfully designed landscape can completely transform a property's curb appeal!

A huge shoutout to our landscape maintenance and enhancement crew for another job well done. We love seeing our customers' properties come together, and we're proud of the attention to detail our team brings to every project, big or small!

❄️ Winter preparation is officially underway at Genesee Valley Landscape! ❄️

Our first load of rock salt for the 2026–2027 snow season arrived today from American Rock Salt and is going into our salt storage facility—the first of many loads as we prepare for another Western New York winter.

While the snow may not be flying yet, preparation for our Snow & Ice Management Division starts long before the first storm. Over the past several weeks, our management team, production team members, and fleet mechanic have been working behind the scenes getting our equipment and facilities ready for the season ahead.

From plow trucks and salt spreaders to snow pushers, sidewalk machines, skid steers, loaders, and support equipment, we're inspecting, servicing, repairing, and preparing our fleet so we're ready when our customers need us most.

For our commercial, industrial, and medical clients, snow and ice management isn't something that can wait until the forecast calls for snow. Preparation, equipment redundancy, material inventory, and a dependable team are what make reliable winter service possible.

🧂 Salt is arriving.
🔧 Equipment is being prepared.
🚜 The fleet is getting ready.
❄️ Winter 2026–2027—we're coming for you.

🍂 Preparing Landscapes for Winter in Caledonia, NY!

Our landscape maintenance crews are hard at work in Caledonia making sure our customers’ properties are cleaned up, properly maintained, and ready for the colder months ahead.

Bed winterization is about more than just making a property look good going into winter. Our crews are turning over mulch, removing weeds, pruning shrubs, cutting back perennials, cleaning up debris, and putting the finishing touches on landscape beds before the season comes to an end.

Proper fall maintenance helps protect your investment while setting your landscape up for a cleaner, healthier start next spring. 🌱🍂

Another transformation wrapped up in Le Roy, NY! 👏

Our hardscape team took this space from a bare connection between the driveway and deck and turned it into a clean, finished walkway that looks like it belongs with the home.

For this project, we installed Cambridge Ledgestone 3-Piece in Limestone Quarry, accented with a Coal border, and finished the sides with Techo-Bloc Brandon edging for a crisp, defined look.

Projects don't always have to be huge to make a big difference. A properly built walkway adds function, improves access, and gives the entire entrance a much more finished appearance.
Great work by our hardscape crew bringing this one together! 💪

Another one wrapped up at Silver Lake! 🌿🪨

This project was a true transformation from start to finish. Our team created a new outdoor entry and patio space featuring a Belgard Mega-Arbel paver patio, natural limestone boulder retaining walls, and Chateau limestone steps to create a functional transition through the grade change. The project also included drainage improvements, regrading, driveway restoration, and hydroseeding to bring the surrounding property back together.

The finished result really speaks for itself. The combination of the natural boulders, flagstone-style pavers, and limestone steps fits this Silver Lake property beautifully while completely changing how the homeowner can use and access this space.

👏 A HUGE shoutout to our entire Genesee Valley Landscape team on this one! Projects like this take more than just the crew you see setting the final stone. From planning and estimating, to material coordination, excavation and base preparation, drainage, hardscape installation, grading, hydroseeding, equipment operation, deliveries, and cleanup—it takes the entire team working together to bring a project like this across the finish line.

Great work, team. This is one to be proud of! 💪

Another project wrapped up by our Landscape Maintenance & Enhancement Team! 🌿

This customer was looking to improve both the appearance and function of their driveway entrance. Our crew cleared back the overgrowth, installed a new split-rail fence on both sides of the driveway, and added 6–8" surge stone through the ditch areas to help stabilize the entrance and provide erosion control. We also Harley raked and compacted the driveway to clean everything up and leave the property looking finished.

Not every landscape project needs to be a complete property transformation. Sometimes a few targeted improvements can make a big difference in curb appeal, erosion control, and overall functionality.
Great work by the crew getting this one completed! 👏

Another project completed in Livonia, NY! 👏

This property had an overgrown hillside and ditch line that needed a long-term solution for erosion control, stabilization, and easier maintenance. Our team excavated and reshaped the area, installed heavy-duty woven stabilization fabric, and placed 6–8" limestone surge stone throughout the hillside.

What was once an overgrown, difficult-to-maintain slope is now a clean, functional, stabilized area designed to help control erosion and hold up for years to come.

Projects like this are a great example of how landscaping isn't always about making something prettier—it’s also about solving problems and protecting your property.
