I, Skot McConnell, have posted this 3 times and removed it twice. Itâs staying up and I have plenty of support from others that feel the same way! Also, donât confuse this post with how I/We feel about the community. 2 VERY different topics!
If any of you other local businesses other than Reds Country Inn would like to follow, share, comment or support us, weâd love that. Otherwise, I do notice.
I normally try to keep things positive and focused on our work, our employees, our clients, and the communities we serveâbut I feel this needs to be said publicly and clearly.
Wolf River Property Management is extremely disappointed with the level of support we have experienced from the Pickerel Pearson Business Association, particularly when it comes to social media and Facebook. Not the Facebook group. Not the community here. The Association. The Pickerel-Pearson Business Association.
When youâre part of a local business association, you expect there to be some level of mutual support among the businesses involved. That doesnât mean everyone needs to promote everything we do. But over time, you notice things.
You notice the likesâor lack of them.
You notice the comments.
You notice the shares.
You notice the reactions.
And you notice when there are little to none.
You also notice the differences in how businesses within the same association support and interact with one another. Wolf River Property Management has noticed those differences.
Social media engagement costs nothing. A like takes a second. A share takes a few seconds. A comment supporting another local company requires very little effort. For a small business employing local people, serving local property owners, purchasing locally whenever possible, and investing back into this community, those small gestures matter.
Wolf River Property Management has worked extremely hard to build what we have. We employ local people, support other local businesses, invest heavily in this area, and take tremendous pride in the communities we serve.
For this reason, Wolf River Property Management will no longer associate with or continue our membership in the Pickerel Pearson Business Association.
I also want to make the reason public so there is absolutely no confusion about our decision.
For those who participate in the local rumor mill, there is no need to speculate, create a story, or speak on our behalf. This is the reason. You are hearing it directly from Wolf River Property Management.
There was no secret disagreement, hidden agenda, or behind-the-scenes story that needs to be invented. We simply do not see the value in continuing membership in an organization where we do not feel the level of mutual business support reflects what we believe a local business association should represent.
Weâre not asking for special treatment. Weâre asking a very simple question:
What is the purpose of belonging to a local business association if its members arenât actively supporting and encouraging the local businesses that make up that association?
Supporting local shouldnât just be a slogan used when itâs convenient.
It should be something we actually do.
Wolf River Property Management will continue supporting this community, supporting local businesses that support one another, employing local people, and taking care of the clients who have helped us grow.
Our decision regarding the association does not change our commitment to the Pickerel/Pearson community.
It simply changes who we choose to associate our business with.
