Did you know that "identical-looking" faucet might not actually be the same quality depending on where you buy it?
As local remodeling contractors here in Phoenixville, PA, we wanted to share something most people don't know: plumbing fixtures you buy at Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon, or Wayfair, even when they look EXACTLY like the ones on the official Delta, Kohler, or Moen websites, often aren't built to the same quality.
Why? Big box stores pressure manufacturers into building "stripped down" versions with cheaper components so they can hit a lower price point while the brand still protects its profit margin. You end up paying for a brand name you trust, but getting internal parts that are lower quality.
The scariest part: this happens most with plumbing pieces that get buried inside the wall (mixing valves, diverter valves, etc.) exactly the parts that are the most expensive and disruptive to replace if they fail down the road.
If you're planning a bathroom remodel or any project involving plumbing, this is worth a read before you buy.
